What color to paint my son's room?

We are thinking about getting my son's room painted to go with his twin size bed wich is a race car bed I found on craigslist similar to this...
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1634891 except his bed is red. The room is currently a med yellow with a stenciled blue sky themed border that went with my oldests baby bedding 7 yrs ago. I'm not sure what color to paint his room. I think red would be too hard to paint over in the future plus too much red & it's the warmest and smallest bedroom. I do have Batman & Spiderman bedding for him already, though we were going to do his room with superheros and Cars.
Any ideas?

I would probably try a feature wall in red and the rest white. I'm not really sure how you go with painting over red paint though. I think a feature wall can give you a splash of colour without making the whole room garish.

I was thinking something similar like having one wall painted red, leave one yellow, paint one blue, and then one yellow.
Husband was thinking of doing black & white checkers like the checkered flag when a racecar wins a race but I thought that would be a pain to do and a pain to paint over the black color.

I am sharing room with my sister. We used to have a blue room and a blue bed. Since you have a Batman and Spiderman bedding I think it would go along with light gray or pale yellow paint. I think rooms should not have bright colors because it may tend the mind to be active instead of having a peaceful, laid back surrounding.

Hmmmm.... light gray that could be an idea that would still make his bed pop and go with either superhero or cars themes.

If you are going with a superhero or race car theme. Red is, sadly, the best option.

How about a blue-gray. relaxing, quiet and pretty neutral, you can accessorize with any color and there won't be a problem.

I don't think he has an opinion at his age he's pretty agreeable most of the time as he's not quite 2yrs old.

I think the first question to ask yourself here, is what color does your son like? If you paint a kid's room a color they don't like they have less interest in making sure it looks nice because it's really your room and not theirs, according to psychologists anyway.

I think that blue would be perfect! Then if you want along the top or middle you can put race car and/or super hero borders. I know that a lot of super hero costumes have blue in them too! A checkered flag would be really neat, but to try and paint over black would not be easy at all!

I had this problem 6 months ago..remember? I went with a neutral color. A sort of beige/green. Goes well with dinosaurs. Red would actually be fine, as long as when you were ready to repaint you use primer first. A little more work. Grey actually goes with batman and Spiderman. They say Grey tends to enhance creativity, which can make it a good color. Plus, ithas broad range of neutrals and, depending on the shade, can be nice for almost any room. The red will really stand out.

i have found it is much easier to change the bedding and curtains than to paint so when we paint a room we try to go with a neutral color because as children age they no longer like things and want to change it. i find it much easier to change the bedding etc and leave the paint as is. it is less costly and less work. so my advice would be to go with a color that will work with just about anything you might change the room to in the future.

If your son is feminine, you can paint his room with a pink or purple color with some clouds images. If your son is manly, paint with blue, white or green.
Just paint it with a color that fits the room design. i prefer light colors.
