I took "Uncle" to a movie for his birthday. The movie he wanted to see was Star Trek. It has been doing well at the box office and most seem to enjoy it. The new Star Trek has moved up to a new level, now ranking amongst some of the top tier films although still not in the same league as mega blockbusters like Star Wars. We are talking hundreds of millions in box office $$. So I was surprised when I entered the theatre. After we sat down we were 5 people total for the showing. It was empty. Evening weekend I thought we'd have trouble getting good seats.. Ever been surprised at an empty theater?

Well it shows the level of taste the people have nowadays.Good things are not raved and appreciated as before.I am not ranting as the meaning of good has a very new meaning now.

Maybe alot are on vacation or away..I am surprised also that it was so empty but I guess a nice surprise not having to worry about talkers and people in 10 gallon hats.

I guess I was not too surprised when I took my kids to see the Hannah Montana movie a few weeks ago that the theater was empty except the three of us. It was an early show 30 minutes after my son got out of school. Still I was a little surprised that we were the only ones there.

I liked the movie when I saw it. I do think that, generally speaking, Time Travel should be avoided altogether in movies and fiction because of the logical flaws that develop. I did not like Kirk being remade as a bad-boy rebel. Too cliche. I also didn't remember Kirk being particularly outstanding in any way originally, but the remake suggests he's some sort of a maverick genius. (Although, they don't have him doing anything particularly intelligent on-screen.. it is suggested that he somehow broke the coding on Spock's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobayashi_Maru Kobayashi Maru test. )

I have not seen the movie (will probably wait until DVD), but my husband did go with some of his friends. He is not a fan of Star Trek and had a bad attitude about seeing this movie. Low and behold he really liked it! I have been to empty theaters before. We have gone to the first showing on the weekend at this one theater that is kind of tucked away from the street. We have seen about two to three movies in an empty theater!
