Your daily exercise..

Being unemployed and mostly broke, I stay at home most days of the week in front of my laptop blogging, reading, and watching. I barely get any exercise except when I go up and down the stairs and I walk when I go from my friend's house to the mall. I used to jog around the subdivision every morning (5AM-6AM) but since I am having a hard time sleeping and waking up early, I stopped. But earlier this week I decided this could not go on any longer. I need an exercise. So I decided to have an afternoon walk every day, and go up and down the stairs more often than usual instead of asking someone to get something for me, I just get it myself. This is only a "warm-up" as I am going back to sleeping early and when I'm back my normal sleeping routine, I will be back jogging and working out. How about you? What is/are your daily exercise? Do you walk? Jog? Go to the gym? Do you have a schedule and stick to it?

I fell into the trap of not exercising enough a few years back, and it didn't do me any good because I had a heart attack. OK, it was just a mild one due mostly to a genetic problem in the family, but if I had kept up my exercise instead of thinking I was too busy on the computer, it may not have happened. I see the heart attack as a warning that I really have to keep active - use it or lose it - as they say. So now I get exercise every day, not too much and not too little. I lost all my excess weight and am now back to the size I was in my 30s. - Derek

Good for you! I've got inherited high blood pressure. I'm only 130lbs but when I was younger that was all muscle. Now i don't train so hard my body fat levels are a lot higher. Recently I've started hill walking with my kids - real steep boogers where I end up using the ivy and tree roots as ropes. I love it. Much better than the sweaty gym!

Oh yeh, I know what you mean about the gym. I was attending as part of a healthy hearts program, but I found it boring and much of the time, I didn't want to go, and I don't think that exercise does as much good as if you enjoy it. Being out walking briskly particularly up hills, and cycling is quite enjoyable. - Derek

Hi, marababe. What you've decided to do is right. We need exercise to keep healthy. Jogging, going up and down stairs, walking, no matter what it is, it is good for us. Since I have a full-time job as a teacher and most of the time I have to stand, so I don't need too much exercise. But I try to do some light exercise every night to help me relax after a whole day's hardwork. Exercise can also help you to sleep. But remember not to do strenuous exercise before you sleep.

When my kids were toddlers I used to teach fitness. Looking for new ideas one day, I decided to copy everything my toddler twins did - bending, crawling, reaching and climbing ... No wonder they were on booby milk every five minutes. I have never worked so DAMN HARD in my entire life!

I wish I had the discipline to stick to exercise. I do lift weights semi-regularly, and I truly wish I did more. I'm more concerned by bad habits--junk food, and smoking, then I Am about picking up more exercise currently. However, I work in a very stressful job and have found that nicotene withdrawal combine with very nasty people is a bad combination....

I don't exercise ever! But this time I have to.. because I just gave birth and I can't believe that I gain a weight like this. Before i was very slim, I was 99lbs only and now I'm 120lbs. Don't know how can I eliminate my excess fats.

I walk about 3 miles almost every morning. I wake up early to do it before work. Even on the weekends I am usually up early, but regardless I try to get my 3 miles in. Unless it raining, then I work out on the Wii Fit. I do the Wii Fit almost every night also.

Hi marababe! I am also not working either and am disabled. I have a serious knee injury, but still try to make myself do some walking when I can! I don't have a car so the only way that I can get around to the stores in my area is to walk! There are days that I am in pain and I have to push myself to go walking anyway! But, if I don't walk then I won't get any exercise at all! I also have trouble sticking to a normal routine since I have trouble sleeping and stay up late and then sleep late! If I do have appointments then I am really thrown off altogether! It was different when I was working. I am trying to get back into some kind of routine now so that I can feel healthier and get more exercise and sleep!

You are doing better than me! I want to start heading out to the pool and swimming some laps. That would be a nice break for me. I used to run all the time, but now I just can't force myself to do it. I think if I start out swimming I might be able to work myself back into a routine of runny. But, my sis recently asked me not to go to the local pool because she doesn't want anything to know that she is related to someone she doesn't think is hot. Oh well! Hahaha.

Doing daily exercise is very import to keep you healthy and maintain a good mood. The ways to exercise varies, but the most import thing is find a way that fits you best. Like you said, going up- and down-stairs can be very good for yourself because of your health condition and its convenience. I've heard from somewhere that just keeping exercise for 15 minutes every day helps you keep fit. I do push-ups every day when I'm going to bed and badminton is our regular activity in my working group every week. It's not about to what you do, it's about to whether you can stick to it.

That is good that you put to an end before its too late because if you haven't, you might ending up like me. Like you i was unemployed 4 years ago when i stumble upon this site and start working online. Though that time i am not yet that heavy working yet but after 2 years i started to learn and do online working and i spent most of my time infront of the computer. Stay very late at night, wake very late in the morning until my whole sleep pattern has changed and i was really working too much that one day i found myself gain a weight. The transition was fast that i can believe it myself. Well i am not that really huge now but its really far different from what i used to shape before i work online. Almost all of my clothes are not fitted anymore but what i worry about is my health as i know its not that healthy now. I get easily tired and been lack and over sleep. Well my mistakes was that i neglected myself and didn't do exercise. Even my social life i also neglected because i was busy working online. So i hope its not too late yet. Lately i've starting to go back walking in the afternoon at least to get my blood circulate and i am really trying hard to get back my normal sleep.

Good for you! I'm a gym user, but since I moved further away I don't go as often. I trapped a nerve in my foot a year back, and that made walking difficult. It drove me maaaaad! not painful, just uncomfortable. My doc explained it was a long healing process as I'd bruised the nerve, but this year I made a concerted effort to walk more and put up with the discomfort. Now I walk 3 - 4X a week, including to my local big supermarket, 3 miles there and back. Weekends, I try to head to the downs and hit the steep hills. I love hills that are so steep you end up hauling yourself up by the tree roots! I did chanctonbury a couple of weeks ago - the buzz I got when I reached the top was enormous! Walking is the best - done hard it's better than any anti-depressant pill. More leisurely, it gives you time to unwind and think. I'm a writer - walking is a brilliant way to get new ideas.

I am not an athletic person at all. So I just go to the gym for my exercise. I go to the gym three times a week and spend 30 minutes on the treadmill. That is my only exercise. That is why I cannot afford to be lazy in going to the gym. I try my best to stick to my schedule. But sometimes, if I need to do something, then I skip the gym.

I do stretching exercises every morning and evening. I used to jog when I was younger but it is too much work running for no good reason and not getting anywhere. In America, I think we are spoiled with an automobile life. Instead of walking to the market less than a mile away, I will drive there. So to go green and get more exercise in my life, I will move abroad and not own a car. Then I will have no choice but walk to the market daily and get exercise. I will probably also take up a hobby like photography and do a lot of walking around taking pictures. It is hard for me to exercise just to exercise, but if I can tie exercise to a hobby or a daily necessity like walking to the market, then it is easy to do.
