Have you got a digital camera? What is the resolution?

So, first thing first, do you have a digital camera just like almost everyone else does? It seems that it is more difficult to find someone without a digital camera than one with more than one.
Now, what is the resolution of your digital camera? I think the answer probably ranges from 8 Mega pixels up to 12 Mega or even more. Have you ever really used that much resolution at all? I know we will just choose best quality when taking photos but then at that high resolution, it won't fit in to the monitors we have (Even at 1920x1440 is still less than 3 Mega pixels). The extra resolution only helps when we print it out in the photo shop or you need to do some processing with the photo.

Thanks for your reply.
That is really a feature that is not that available on most digital cameras and it makes the camera worths keeping and buying at the first place. I mean there are so many digital cameras going to the market every month and yet they looks so similar to me.

Mine has 8 megapixels and I get pretty decent pictures. I may be upgrading soon...the one I am looking at is 10 megapixels.

Yes, I do. I have a Canon XSI, 12.2 mpixels. But as you said, The big resolutions only helps with prints, we don't have any extra image quality with more mpixes like a lot of people thinks :D

That is the exact thing I am wondering. In fact, I have wanted to get a digital camera but then they are all offering this exceptional resolution which I don't know what I can use them for. I mean, couldn't they manufacture a digital camera with medium resolution but of much higher photo quality?
