What languages do you want to learn?

Personally, i want to learn the Korean language and japanese and cantonese language. The reason is really a selfish reason. Because i want to be able to understand my dramas. English subs come in a day later or sometimes a week later than the broadcast of the show. And i'm impatient. *grinz* As of now, i can differentiate the 2 languages. But i've yet to really understand. Well, that's me. What about you? What language do you want to learn and why?

I want to learn more spanish and become more fluent at it. I studied in school and have a pretty good understanding of it and can speak I just do not feel real confident and am not fluent at all. I can communicate but not confidentally. I have been studying and doing the podcast and my spanish speaking friends at work are helping me our quite a bit. I am hoping by the end of this year i will have more confidence where i can carry on a long conversation in spanish.

Hi there regal_aeros! I like to learn a lot of languages. I think this will be advantageous for someone like me who travels a lot. Back in high school, we learned Latin. When I was in the graduate school, I learned Nihonggo. By being with some Chinese friends, I know some Mandarin and a little Fookien. My mom and my grandmother taught me a little Spanish. I really hope to learn more about those Languages I have mentioned. Aside from that, I want to learn French.

I also want to learn Korean, Japanese and Cantonese languages. My reason is also like you : to able to understand the dramas without worrying about subs. DVDs will the subtitles cost more than the ones without. If I were able to understand the languages, I can save money in that area alone. Plus, some of the ones uploaded in streaming video sites may not contain subtitles. It's annoying. I want to understand the languages more.

I soo agree. I actually love Taiwanese dramas and I'm understanding more and more while watching them, and the same goes for Japanese dramas, even if I studied very few Japanese language, compared to Chinese. I acrually would like to learn some Chinese dialects, but I don't know which. I don't have a reson for it, I only like the different sounds. Like the shengyan one, I find it really amusing. It's easy to understand, thought, compared to putonghua. But what I would like more than everything is to learn to speak and write a perfect mandarin. If I were to accomplish this, it would be wonderful.

thank you, yeah i manage to speak and write. so people do understand. actually it depends on days.. some days i speak with the flow, but other day i would be stuck with sentences. probably it is because of my mind. when my mind is clear, it comes naturally.. however i have little grammar issues. and i would be happy if i am able to write articles. there are lots of opportunities for writers. :)

Hey there! I personally want to learn how to speak Spanish, German, and Japanese. I took Spanish for my foreign language class in college. That didn't go too well. I tried to learn Japanese and German on my own but I don't have that much time. I think the best way to learn new languages is to immerse yourself in a place where that language is the primary language. If you can't do that, it would be best to make friends with people who know how to speak the language.

I do not want to learn how to speak any other language. I was a good student in school and got straight A's in everything except language as I just could not pick them up as easily as others did. I studied 2 separate languages thinking maybe it was just the one language I could not pick up but it wasn't, foreign languages and I just do not get along. Unfortunately for me I moved from America to Holland many years ago and had to learn the language in order to live here but I guarantee you even after all of these years my Dutch is still very poor. Fortunately for me, most people in Holland speak some English so when they see me struggling so much they will normally automatically switch their language from Dutch to English.

Hello regal_aeros, I intend to learn Russian and Japanese languages too. In fact, it was in the wish list of new year resolution for many years by now and still, I yet to learn I want to learn Russian because I am married to a Russian man. For the Japanese language, I think I have a better reason for that - I work for Japanese and still, I can't make not even a single sentence. That is pathetic and I think my reason is worse than yours

I want to learn Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese languages because I think those are sexy languages :) But in a short time, I probably have to learn mandarin or other Chinese dialects because not only English, this language is also important for business communication.

basically no matter what languages you learn will not win the xiaxue theory. you are only xiaswaying yourself. dont waste time on xiasway theory. make full use of xiaxue theory now.
