Its time to scan the computer!

Its sunday and I am thinking of starting my computer scan by using avast antivirus. Its good and fast, doesnt slows the computer! It would take around 2-3 hours so that I am back for the next discussion.

Hi dhawanbm.
Well, I use avast too.
But I also use another antivirus.
It called a-squared.
I don't know if you have heard of it before this.
Anyway its very good.
It very efficient when scanning the pendrive.
Almost everytime it can detects virus trojan and worm.

now why do the scan manually, why not schedule an automatic scan. this can be done in the middle of the night or at a time when your not around. only think is you will need to leave your computer on.

Ugh, bad memories !!!!
I scanned my 250G external HD, using AVG, on my old 1.2Ghz system and it took over a day to do.
** Shudders **
On a good note, it did pick up a couple of virii, then again it might have been quicker to have deleted my "downloads" directory and just redownload the software.

I prefer using quick heal anti-virus. Not only is it free, it also provides users with various malware and rootkit removal tools. The best feature in quick heal is that it allows the scanning process to start at the booting process of Windows.this eliminates the possibility of any virus in fact in the computer system in the Explorer process is executed.

I am also using avast home edition and believe that its a very good antivirus.2-3 days ago i use kaspersky2010 and also avg but that time my computer speed become very slow so i decided to use avast and after installation it start warning many viruses.so its good to use.
