What Was Your First Meal After Giving Birth?

After I had my daughter, all I wanted was a cheeseburger and fries from McDonald's. So, my boyfriend went out and got it for me. Now after I had my son, all I wanted was a Turkey Sub from Subway. My mother ran that errand for me. I still remember eating those first meals after I gave birth both times. Maybe it is because you can't eat or drink anything while in labor, but it seems those meals are memorable for some reason. How about you mothers out there, what was your first meal after giving birth to your children?

I don't remember what I ate after my daughter was born, but with my son it was a turkey sandwich. They had it in the little snack room nearby, and I was ecstatic! I hadn't had lunchmeat for my entire pregnancy because I was paranoid about lysterium. The mayo never tasted so good!

With my oldest daughter my first meal after I delivered her was Burger King. After delivering my youngest daughter I had Pizza Hut. Now I am pregnant again and I guess we will see what I want for my first meal after delivering her. :) Time will tell.

I haven't had the pleasure of having children but have had the pleasure of being there when my niece had her baby it was amazing and she had been on a liquid diet for a week before the birth of her baby since her gallbladder was giving her fits and she was also a extra high risk pregnancy..and the first thing she asked for was a chicken nugget and french fry meal with a large pop from McDonald's and my sister in law she wanted a large people from Pizza Hut..

Well, this is reaching way back in the memory bin, but I still can't remember what I had over 25 years ago when my first son was born. I do remember that I had salisbury steak for lunch when I was in labor... For my second though, I remember my mom went out to McDonalds and got me something - probably a quarter pounder w/cheese - because I missed the dinner and they kept promising to bring me something. I was starvin' marvin so my mom went down the street to McDonalds.

I don't remember what my first meal was after giving birth to either of my kids, though I'm pretty sure it was hospital food both times.

Well I had my son thru caesarian section so I was under sedation and its after effects for several hours. When I came to my senses, I was in pain coz of the stitches. I also came to know from the nurses that after C-section, the normal diet is supposed to be liquid in form so that there is no strain on the stitches during defaecation...so my first 'meal' immediately (several hours) after delivery was a glass health supplement drink

I don't remember what I ate after giving birth, I was so enthralled with my babies! They never left my side--that was back when there were so many hospital kidnappings--so I was absorbed in them. I'm sure I just ate the hospital food!

I can't remember what I had after all five of my children but with my second I was given a menu and told to chose something there was nothing on there I would eat as I am vegetarian they offered to bring me a salad. But when they did it was a corn beef one so I refused to eat that. So ended up with just a cup of vegetable soup. With my last and fifth child I had a lovely meal had a vegetarian mushroom stroganoff with rice.

It is crazy the cravings we get sometimes . I don't have any kids yet ... I know my mom right after she gave bith to me wanted a huge chef salad with french dressing. My one friend all she ever wanted when she was carrying her little boy was chocolate chip cookies , and after he was born she craved them no more , and now doesnt even eat them . I rem right after he was born we had to do a food run of junk food a whole bunch of gummy things , and chicken lol . take care

I don't remember what I ate after all of them but I do remember after my first. My sister had a Domino's pizza delivered to the hospital for us with mushroom, onion and black olives...my favorite way. I had heartburn so bad at the end of my pregnancy and I craved pizza so bad...so I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am now currently pregnant and pizza is one of the foods I always want so maybe I will get another one this time around.

My experience was funny. The whole time I was in labor I was craving pizza and begging for it. Everyone kept telling me they would get it for me after my son was born. So I was okay with that. About half an hour after my son was born I reminded people I was hungry. The first thing they asked me do you want pizza. I replied no I would like a burger. I waited at least an hour for that burger but it was worth it.

Wow...singlemommy, you really have good memory!! I just had my first child four months ago, if you did not raise up the question, probably i would not remember it anymore. After i had delivered my son, after few hours, i took the chicken poridge and hot chocolate which were ordered from the hospital. However, i think before this i took some biscuits, but i did not remember much anymore. While in labour, i ate some biscuits and drank some plain water as i was afraid i had no energy to push in the end. Luckily the doctor allowed me to eat something light. Honestly, i would never forget my first labour, it was wonderful. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

I really can't remember it. But what I remember is the last food I ate before the delivery. It was an instant sotanghon. After that I don't want to eat that again. Maybe I associated it with pain. I don't wanna taste it ever again.

here in India we hardly have food from outside, the food is mostly home made, and the doctor advices simple cooked pulses, rice, chapati (kind of bread made out of wheat flour)and other home made things, so i had the same, rest things are also followed by the direction of doctor, like tea and other beverages....

I think there is a culture difference here. And especially since I had a surgery to give birth. Therefore, in fact I didn't eat anything at all after the birth of my baby. Two days later, I was allowed to drink some meat soup and that's all. I love China

Hello singlemommy, I still remember how hungry I was after giving birth to my son. I had a plate of rice and a bowl of soup and had to share that with my husband. He accompanied me for the whole night and as I was worried too much, I didn't allow him to leave the room! What I remember clearly was to call my sister right after I was wheeled out of the labor room and asked her to prepare the food and come as quickly as she could - in the wee hours!
