I was doing some reading on food grade Diatomaceous Earth, and it appears it has a lot of uses for a lot of things. I'd read in a few places it's a good natural remedy for fleas and ticks on pets, and also as a dewormer for them. There's a lot of claims that it has some health benefits for people as well.
I ended up buying some online yesterday, since I'd much rather use something natural on my pets then all those harsh chemicals. Has anyone here actually used the food grade quality Diatomaceous Earth, and if so what for? And, did it work?

YES! I love love love love this stuff!! Have I mentioned I love it?? I run a small farm and use this for ALL my animals, except the hermit crab as it would kill him. My parakeet, Chickens, Rabbits, Dogs and Cats all get external and internal applications. I have found it to be helpful against mange as well though I am not sure if that is typical. I have used it internally myself but find the gritty texture and flatulence (early stages of taking it) a bit off putting. I have NEVER found a single flea or tick on my 6 outside cats or two dogs, not to mention my chickens don't have mites. When I get back from the feed store each 50lb bag gets a dose and once a month I fill chicken dusting holes with it. Then I dust the dogs and cats, I recommend you do this outside and be careful NOT to breathe it in. Silica is not good for the respiratory track! Enjoy and Experiment!
