It has been a controversial topic that everyone debates about. Can happiness be bought? People who are rich, are they really happy? What about people in the third world? Are they the most unhappy people on earth? What really makes one happy?
I am not rich nor poor but the happiness I find in my life is when I realise I have kinship, tons of friendships and every single lovely people who stood by me when I needed help the most. =) I seriously love these people and shall promise them another lifetime of a friendship/kinship/relationship or whatever-ship you'd called it. =D Well, here's my view in happiness... what'bout you?

"Anyone who says money can't buy happiness doesn't know how to shop."
"Money may not buy lasting happiness, but when it wears out you can go out and buy some more."
"I've been rich and unhappy and poor and unhappy. Rich is better."
Seriously, though, money is a tool. There may be things money can't buy, but poverty can't buy anything. If you're worrying about having enough to pay the bills, eat and have a place to live, you won't be happy. Money can remove sources of unhappiness. Whether or not you are happy is mostly up to you.

I agree with you 100%. Being happy is up to you. However, not having to worry about money would definately contribute to my happiness. I really love the quote about shopping.

Hello dnz_dnz!
I do not think that money can buy REAL happiness. Perhaps, temporary gladness and joy. But definitely the REAL and LONG-LASTING one. We find joy and happiness in other and more important things like love and companionship.

Money cannot buy happiness. Some people have lot of money still they are never happy.Money can buy the things you like.If money is used in a wise way it can make us happy.Rich people are not always happy in this world. They are tensed someone will rob their money or if they die who will take all the money.Spending time with people outside.Walking in a garden or beach or going for holidays can really make us happy.

I think money could buy happiness. I think if I had a lot of money to just blow in the wind. I would help my friends be able to get what they need. So in away I would be buying their happiness. For example, I have a friend that needs repairs done to her home or she faces fines from the city. I know it would make her very happy if I was able to pay for the repairs. For me that's my happiness, is being able to help my family and friends. Also to help with charities that revolves around children.

I think money is just a tool that we can use to buy things that can make us or our loved ones happy. But money on it's own can never buy happiness. Money without love is nothing. The lack of money can cause many to be be unhappy but having a lot of money does not guarantee happiness. If money is used to help others, to express love to family members and for other noble purposes then money can be a part of the things that creates happiness.

From my observations of rich and people I have known, I would say that you can be happy with loads of money, or you can be sad. Money is just something people either chase after or not. If a person chases after 1 million, when he/she gets there, it will not be long before he/she is chasing more. Money moves into either more or less - it never stays still unless you hide it away in cash, and then it isn't really money, just a pile of paper and metal.
What I can is that people want admiration and respect and many people of this world think that money will bring this admiration. But it doesn't really work that way, because most people are too busy with their own desires to worry about how rich another person is or is not.
I used to desire more money, but as I am getting older, I have quit caring about it. I work and enjoy my work, and I have enough for my needs. I am not rich but not poor, because I have a home, computer, TV, car, cell phone - they may not be the best, but why would I want the best? I have loving family and friends, so I completely satisfied with what I have in life....
Now where's that lottery ticket!? I only joke of course! - Derek

Happiness means different things to different people. For the rich, happiness could mean an off day in the stock market. For the really poor, happiness could mean not having to worry about paying for dinner tonight.
Our world has evolved. Gone are the days when one can survive on what Mother Earth gives us. Those were the days when one can build a house if one needs a roof over the head, or fish if one is hungry. Us today have to pay for the most basic necessities and yet there are days when we don't even have enough to pay for gas for the heaters.
Daily misery definitely puts a big dent in the happy feeling. So yes, happiness can be bought. It certainly isn't available on extended credit.

yah, i agree with you. we share the same thought. it doesn't matter even you are poor because happiness cannot be bought. happiness for me is when i can still laugh despite the odds that comes along my way. i believe in god that despite of having many problems, the thought that even for temporary relief provided by Him i still thank for that and that makes me happy. God do not forsake those who believes and pray. God bless...

I don't think money can buy happiness, it seems that you are never satisfied, you always want more, and if you have all the money in the world to buy whatever you want it still doesn't make you happy. Now I've never had that kind of money, its just what I've heard. Happiness to me is having family and friends close by that I can lean on when I need someone, people that I have fun hanging out with, though it would be nice to have alot of money, and not have to worry about paying bills and such, I still wouldn't trade it for what I have today, family and friends and their love.

Well, it is based on the characteristic of the people. If you are a rich and greed man, only money can make you happy. If you are a human full of continence in life, I think you're satisfied already. I'm happy if everything is going my way and when I see the girl I loved smiling.

Money can buy temporary happiness and that's during leisure... when we play sports, some people gamble and make bets, some people buy stuff that offers temporary happiness... but it can't buy lasting happiness or what we call joy! Stuff like that are priceless and no amount of money will even begin to compare to that.
