I recently set up an account on amazon where I sell my new and used books that I have lying around the house and so far I have made over $100. I believe this is a great way to get rid of some of the clutter in my home and when the kids have finished with there tet books that they no longer use I ust list it for sale and presto I get buyer, ship the product, and get paid and it's not bad that get reimbursed for shipping.
So if you have tons of books lying around the house this is the perfect way to make some money while cleaning out your house for the summer.

That's a great tip actually. I didn't even think about doing that. I mean, I know Amazon also sells used books but I always thought it was small businesses doing the selling.
Thanks for sharing!

I've sold through Amazon before, it's great. You really make your money from the shipping, the standard charge is $3.99, and if you ship by media mail, it doesn't cost nearly that amount. I often buy books through Amazon also, but there is so much more you can sell there, music, games etc. The only time I run into problems when selling a book is when you have 50 people selling the same book for one cent.

I think that is an excellent idea. I have sold some books on cash4books.net. I think there are some things that are good and amazon sounds like a good place to go to be able to get rid of books and I think I am going to set up a seller account on there. It is a good place and does have many good books for sale.

Great, its nice to know that, i have many books here that i used during my school days, i wonder if this will works for me. Selling books in amazon maybe this will not work for me because i am living in the Philippines and its cost much in shipping. Well, i am happy for you, your not just cleaning stuffs but as well you earned from doing it.

I too have cleaned out alot of "clutter" on Amazon . . .it is an amazing place and my hats go off to whomever it was that started it. . . for not only does it help us clean out a few things .. but it also is a great savings to the person that wants what we no longer need! I am not only a seller there but I am also a buyer. . .I find I rather go there than to the bookstore. . and there was a time when I loved nothing more than spending an hour browsing the store. .
I have also sold alot of DVD's there. . they go like hot cakes. . . and for such a great price . . especially since most of my DVD's have been watched maybe once!
Great post. .
And I just want to say welcome to the "Lot"
Lotting to you!

The only problem is that sometimes books that you spent a lot of money on go for a lot less on Amazon than they do in school bookstores. And Amazon takes a rather large commission. For books they charge a $1.35 closing fee (other departments vary) and they take 15% commission. So on a book that sells for 4.00, you only actually recieve $2.05 plus the shipping credit. Although getting rid of the clutter is nice, its just not worth the time and effort for $2.00 for a book I spent $50.00 on originally. I'd rather donate them to free textbook trading services (many universities have them) and libraries.
