What would you do if you lost your music collection?

I created a discussion the other day asking how much music everyone keeps on their computer after I realized I had about two days worth of music on my computer. A lot of people responded that they had similar (or much larger) amounts of music stored, and it got me thinking about what I'd do if something happened to my computer and I lost all of that music.
Some of it is just ripped directly from albums I've purchased or borrowed from friends, so I could easily get those again, but a lot of my music was purchased through iTunes. iTunes itself keeps prompting me to backup my music, but I've never done it -- though I need to.
What about you? Do you keep a backup of your music? What would you do if something happened to your music collection?

I think i would be really pissed off..
I mean, they are my fave songs collection. I have collect them from the beginning. Rename and rearrange them again in an alphabetical order my own. Creating a new play list in my winamp. Uugh.. I will be really really pissed off.

I would probably sit on the floor and cry like a baby. Luckily I don't keep my music on my computer. I do it the old way via cds. If I did though I would make so many back-up copies that my space would be in danger of running out. That would be the best thing to do.

I would be mad, then I would start to create a new one as soon as possible. If I lost my list of music I would not be too happy about it, but I would not get overly angry about it either because that would be wasting my time, when I could start making a new list of music as soon as possible.

It would be rather hard for me to lose ALL of my music collection. About half of my music collection was bought on CD, but I have everything scanned into my computer and backed up on an external hard drive. I also have several DVD discs full of most of my music (very handy when traveling!)
Because of this, I probably will not lose my music. If I did, though, I would NOT be pleased! I have about 2 weeks worth of music, and that would take a while to replace!

I have lost my music collection. I had a virus completely wreck my HD on another computer and lost about 5-600 songs. So I replaced them. It wasn't bad because most of the songs I had originally were downloaded off a dial-up modem and when I had to replace them I was on cable so it took about a third the time to replace the songs I thought I had had, plus some others.
Now I have a gigantic external hard drive where I keep all of those files, plus everything else that's important, backed up in case something happens to this computer.

I wouldnt lose my music collection .. it is too valuable to me . .so better safe than sorry . .and I always back it up . . I also make a cd of my latest stuff so it is always at a arms length away . . .
In this day and age when "backing" things up is so easy . .why would anyone not do it???
