A new study shows people who take in caffeine equivalent to 3 cups of brewed coffee ( or 7 cups of instant ) are more likely to hallucinate.
I have only been drinking coffee now for about 2 years but I know I have consumed more then 3 cups.
I have never hallucinated after drinking it.
I think that it might have different affects on everybody because one person might be on a certain medicine or maybe you have caffeine over load.
Maybe if your prone to being crazy anyways caffeine makes it worse..lol
What do you think? How many cups have you consumed in a day ?

I have never heard of such a thing. I'm a very strong coffee drinker. If i like the coffee, i could drink 4-5 cups in one sitting. There have been days that I've consumed as many as 20-30 cups of coffee. I have never had hallucinations though. In fact having coffee kind of freshens me up. I guess you are right to say that the effects depend on the person consuming the coffee.

I'm more of a tea drinker so it's pretty unusual for me to drink more than one cup of coffee in a day. Nope, I've never hallucinated. I HAVE had the occasional bout of acid indigestion, which is why I usually drink tea!

Yea, tea really helps with that.
Green tea is really good for you too.
I just switched to de-caff on my tea when I make ice tea because if I drink it in the evening it usualy keeps me up at night.

I never heard of such a thing. I have been drinking coffee....lots of it...for years and not once have i hallucinated. If someone did hallucinate, I would think that either they had some kind of allergic reaction or something was wrong with the coffee or the cause was something other than the coffee.

I wonder if they are checking into it further than what they have ?
We'll have to keep listening.

What I know is that 14 cups a day would kill you. Too much caffeine is not good for our body. Although I myself can say that I am not a coffee lover. So to read your post about hallucination, nope i haven't heard anyone claiming that strange thing happened after sipping coffee.
It must be possible if the cafe is laced . I don't consume coffee daily. I am a tea drinker, and I drink tea not every day too, but once a week or if someone offered me.
We do take fresh fruit juice in our breakfast. That is why i cannot say more about coffee and tea. But to chose from coffee or tea, I would still choose tea. Happy Mylotting.

14 cups a day is a whole lotta coffee even if it's decaff.
I drink 2 cups on the weekends & that curbs my craving for it.

I drink a good pot a day...at least 12 cups. I've never hallucinated so I don't know what the heck they're talking about.
Like you said, maybe it affects different people in different ways. It doesn't keep me up at night either and it's regular coffee, not decaff. I don't know, I can't figure it out. Unless I'm crazy and don't know it, lol!!

If I would drink even decaff it would keep me up because I'm sensitive to it I guess. Tea does the same thing to me.

Hi, Wvgal_5165. I have never heard of this before. If I drink coffee it will be about 2 cups of it. In one day only. I don't drink coffee that much either. If someone hallucinates, it may not be coming from the coffee at all. If they have this problem then they should try drinking, caffeine free coffee.

Hi actually i don,t have the habit of drinking coffee regularly , but even if i drink i drink only one cup ,.i don,t think drinking one cup will have such effects , actually caffeine is used to keep us alert , may be it's the taste that has hallucinating effect.

I have drank coffee for over 40 years.. and I have never hallucenated.... who's that? ... oh sorry,,, thought someone was standing there with a knife! lol! no seriously.. I don't think they have a valid point. Too many people have consumed lots of coffee for lots of years and Ijust can't buy into it! I drink somewhere around 5 cups a day.

no, i wish i could though, that would be awesome. i am a coffee addict, there is no other way to describe it. i believe that i may have pure coffee running in my veins. i used to be an 8 cups a day girl. and i don't mean those silly little cups either, and my sister refers to my intake as a little a little water with my coffee. i have since cut back, but i will not tell you how many i drink now, you will probably think that it is still a lot. i know that i am addicted because i get the headache when i have not had any, then the moment i have some, like the headache is instantly gone. i am not proud of this fact and wish that i could quit, but hey i am drinking coffee for the sake of the populace, me on no coffee is not pretty. besides it is not as if i am mainlining heroin now is it ;)

No, I have never hallucinated after having coffee, but people hallucinate for much less, so I can totally believe that it happens to people. I guess it stimulates a lot of stuff in you, because of the caffeine, and who knows how that turns out in the end?
