I read an article online recently that described a study, or survey, that found that politcal conversavatives got that Colbert was choking, but still believed he was actually conservative. I see him as a caricature of right wing politics. How do you see him. I am especially interested to hear responses from conservatives on this...

I definitely also see him as a caricature of right wing politics...for the record, Colbert has stated in interviews that he's a registered Democrat. I think he's probably center left.

Same here. Satire is a powerful weapon and he's an extraordinary talent, as is his writing team. I think he's brilliant.

I am also not a conservative, but I always thought he was joking around and actually making fun of conservatives. I don't see how it could be any other way. Although it is hard to tell what he is actually thinking, we can't really assume that he is a liberal either. He talks a lot about his Christian faith and his upbringing with a large southern family, which as far as I know are real facts about him. Either way I like his show and always get a good laugh when I watch him.

I've always thought of Colbert as the conservative compliment to Jon Stewart (who is obviously on the left). Sometimes I hear Colbert say some things that generally go against the right. It seems to me that he is a right winger, but he isn't too stuck on it to make fun of both sides. Both political parties have so many openings for jokes that it would be hard not to take shots a both. I would say for the most part he is conservative.
