Despite complaining to her parents who then complained to school officials about smoking, drug use, partying and urine being tossed about in her Algebra class on a daily basis, the school never took steps to control or stop the behavior. So, the girl decided to video the events on her phone to prove once and for all that the environment was beyond belief and not one where teaching or learning could be done. What did the school do? They suspended her for videoing without permission!!! They also suspended a few of the other students as well, but it doesn't sound like they have any real intention of putting things in order in that classroom, don't you agree? http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/weird/Girl-Suspended-for-Taping-Chaos-in-Classroom.html This is just ridiculous!! The teacher needs to be relieved of duty and a security guard needs to be put in place in that room. The other parents need to step forward and take responsibility for their unruly children. This is just plain ludicrous! What do you think?

That is just so wrong and un called for. Nobody wanted to do anything so she was standing up for what she knew was wrong. Some one had to prove to them that it was going on for there own eyes. If I was her parent I take it to the school board and fight it like H*LL. She should not have to have a school record of a suspension for speaking up and safety of her self. Especially when it has already been reported to the school and nothing has been done. Nor dose it seem any action will be taken upon this as of getting security into that room hiring a teacher aid. or a new teacher cause obviously that teacher could not handle them..

According to the article they removed the suspension. Actually I'm not sure what the f the school thinks. I wouldn't necessarily plan the teacher sometimes the teachers have no remedy because the administrators don't wanna do anything. Pablo

Yes I understand not to blame the teacher. but we don't know what went on in that class room. We hear so much on the news today about these teachers. We don't know if she went to the administrator or if she tried to control the class or if she decided to let them just run wild and walk all over her. We don't know but I give her the benfit of the doubt also.

the education system is pretty much a bust. It's much better to home school kids these days. They can't pass the tests, so the school board lowers the passing grades. the kids pass, the school looks good, the IQ of the country drops a few more points, and pretty soon, all you'll need to get into college is a friggin pencil!! "Got a pencil? Good, get in there."

Good for her. She needs to keep the wheel squeaking, (squeaky wheel gets the grease & all that) and her problem will get tended to. Sounds like a smart girl who took matters into her own...cell phone. I've been in rowdy classrooms and know how hard it is to get heard.

this doesn't surprise me.they hate when you have a point and can prove it. when i went to school,we topped out at 41 kids per class (the school was overfull) and all it took was 2 kids on either side of the class starting up,and nothing was done that day.the teacher did nothing about it. i complained several times about kids, and next thing i know i was "disruptive" and needed medication..because surely they couldn't be the problem.they doped everybody up here that dared complain.

I think the school board and the teachers were out of control. I can just hear the parents of the other students in that class.... Oh, my child wouldn't do something like that, he/she is a little angel. I had a friend who had a successful Ford dealership and in front of his dealership was the sidewalk where kids would go up town after school and during the lunch hour. He caught a boy "red handed" who took his key and scraped it along two brand new automobiles that were close to the sidewalk. He called the police, took the boy inside his office and called the boy's parents. The parents exclaimed "our son wouldn't do such a thing it must have been someone else". When the police made the boy empty his pockets, there was the key as evidence. I don't know what is going to bring back disipline in our school system, it certainly isn't going to be parents such as those.

This is another example of how authorities all over the world reacts in a ham handed manner to anybody who dare to challenge the staus quo or the working of the system . The girl stood up for what is wrong and inspite her repeated complaints the authorities turned a deaf ear to her protestations . Maybe the manner she opted to showcase the wrongdoings of the institution was a bit impulsive ,but in no way should she be suspended for her well intended actions . Well such unfair practices occurs all over the world when authorities try to sweep everything under the carpet and hang anyone who dares to stirr the hornest nest

That is crazy. I can't believe the teacher is just sitting in the back doing nothing. Suspending the girl for taping it is wrong too. I think they just got mad cause they didn't want to admit they weren't doing there job and didn't want other people knowing about it. I think a few heads should be rolling over this.

I don't see how they can make a charge of video taping without permission stick. With so many digital cameras out there; and almost every cell phone coming with a camera; it's just logical that everyone is going to be caught on tape at some point. The best idea is just to live your life all the time in a way that won't catch up with you the day a video is taken. And phooey on the school and it's board. They are just upset because it took a young girl to shove in their face a problem that they aren't wanting to deal with. Now they have no choice and hopeful it sends a notice out to all the parents and they keep the lines of communications open with their kids to keep it from getting to that point again.

Well I don't wanna plan the teacher or the students. I'm not sure about the class. Is it in a gang related neighborhood? Why were there so many off task behavior? What did the teacher do? (Unfortunately I couldn't see the video on that news site). What did the administrator do? Of course the kid shouldn't get in trouble and I'm glad they removed the suspension. That was just silly. The teacher and students need to me on suspension. Pablo

That is really really wrong. All that girl did was the right thing in showing that the classroom was completely unsuitable for any kind of learning. What school allows things like that to go on. I mean really.. the girl should be commended for stepping forward and trying to put a stop to this nonsense. I think the other parents need to step up and say something. What parent wants there kid around stuff like that? Kudos to the girl for standing up, and hopefully her parents will proceed with trying to get things changed.

It's appalling to see this sort of thing. I applaud the young lady for her actions. Should they fire the teacher and hire a security guard? I'm not sure that's the right course of action. The fact that the school took no action at all when there were complaints put through proper channels and then suspended our heroine for doing what is right suggests the whole administration needs to be overhauled. The teacher probably should be in a different line of work but so should the rest of the people who did not address the complaints in the first place. Security guards in classrooms would not be necessary if proper disciplinary measures were taken before it went this far. I think the firings should start at the top.

First of all I would like to appreciate the action taken by the girl. What she did is highly commendable. She was caring for her school and what she gets in reward is suspension. The hell with these people. The school owner, the teachers, the guards are all hypocrites.Schools today are only great in terms of the over the board fee they charge. There is little quality anywhere and this is one of those examples to suggest it.All the responsibility now falls on the child to take care because parents have no tome for it.

I think it is completely acceptable for it to be pointed out to administrators that some school class rooms are out of control. A lot of teachers also contribute to this problem by talking with students about things going on in their personal life that children should not be witness to. I think it's about time that some people wake up and pay a lot more attention to what is going on in our schools.

Hey jerz! I think that it wouldn't happen in NY or NJ! There is no way in hell that that kind of behavior would be tolerated here! That is just plain ridiculous! And there is actually a teacher in the room? The only time there ever was a "free for all" when we were in school was when there wasn't a teacher in the room and it was for a minute! And it sure wasn't anything like that! We were scared way back then! There are cops in the schools here and metal detectors! Maybe that's what's missing in those schools! They sure need to do something drastic soon!
