What say if you are washing your clothes by hands or scrubbing the bathroom, are you in the habit of wearing gloves to protect your hands. i am not used doing that. but i know it is harmful to our hands if we just use hands without gloves when we use soaps and other chemicals when cleaning our bathroom and floors. So how do you take care of your hands when you are doing household chores?

I have to say I'm guilty of neglecting my hands by not wearing gloves while washing dishes, scrubbing floors and even while gardening sometimes. I know I should, especially because I have very brittle nails. They should not be exposed to the detergents and chemicals which make them become even more brittle. It's just that I forget to put the gloves on. I do wear gardening gloves most of the time because I'll get scratches from stones in the dirt or from thorns on my raspberry and blackberry bushes. We also have a lot of wild thistle growing around here and I've learned to NEVER touch them without gloves because they are quite prickly and hurt! But, sometimes I'll notice a weed in passing and stoop down to pick it, then that leads to more weeding, then more cultivating or other things in the garden. Before I know it, I have blisters and several cuts on my hands. Not good, I know. Maybe I should write myself a sign and post it on each door leading outside to remind myself to wear my gloves, then keep a pair of gloves near every door... also maybe a pair of rubber gloves IN the kitchen sink to remind me to use them. Thanks for the reminder! I'll try to improve.

yeah in gardening specially i think we should wear gloves. anyways, me too guilty of neglecting my hands. i am almost 40 and my hands tend to dry a lot too. actually even in my younger years i have always dry hands. but much more now. and so i am planning to wear gloves now cause i don't want to have so much leathery feel on my palms. it does not feel okay.

My hands feel awfully leathery whenever I do something like gardening, then washing my hands, or washing dishes without gloves. I always use a hand lotion on them afterwards. I keep a small tube of lotion in my shoulder bag and reapply it often. If I could just remember to wear gloves more often, I know the problem won't be as bad. Again, thank you for reminding me!

i dont wear gloves when cleaning or washing, i tried it but i find them annoying and it makes me feel like i cant clean what i am cleaning really well. i am more comfortable without gloves when doing those things. as for scrubbing i use my foot most of the time.

i guess it takes getting used to it but at first we may find it weird wearing one and feels like nothing is getting done when we are using gloves.

The only time I really use gloves is if I am cleaning with strong bleach water. That wouldn't be normal, everyday cleaning. That would be more like deep cleaning. I have even gotten to the point that I will wear a mask while I am doing that. The main reason is I almost caught Chemical Pnemonia (however you spell it), back in the spring when I was cleaning up a new place to move in to. I was so sick. Then I figured out, it is not worth it. So I started using the mask and gloves. Otherwise, I will only use gloves if I am doing heavy work in the yard. I will use leather gloves to keep from getting blisters on my hands. Other than that, I don't really take care of my hands as well as I should.

yeah i don't like the smell of bleach either or other chemicals used in bathroom to take away stains on floors and walls. and i don't use them . i only use bleach. anyways, i just have small amount of bleach diluted in a bucket of water cause bleach is quite harmful . its smell is too strong sometimes.

Hi hotsummer...I do wear gloves when doing household chores...I think that it protects my hands from the harsh chemicals that I sometimes have to use to clean. Also it protects anyone else that I touch after I clean. I just think it's an extra step but much easier and safer in the long run.

I have never used clothes while I cleaned the house. I used to use a gloves when I cleaned out the toilet but I don't any longer because i use a magic wand that makes it a lot easier and I don't have to wipe down into the bowl as far. I don't use a bunch of chemicals when I clean and that is why I don't use gloves, the most I use is pine-sol on the floors or bleach on the counters every now and again.

i think i have used pine-sol once. but i don't see that in a supermarket. only it happened that my cousin used to stay in our home and she brought this thing. i think that has not harmful chemical isn't it. anyways i will try to look for one on the supermarket.

Well, i does wear gloves especially when cleaning bathrooms as i use chemical liquids to wash, where it needs to done carefully. Infact i cover my noses, as the chemicals are strong enough and not good to inhale. I feel myself face using them.
