Don't you feel bad after you spend that money?

Today, I went to the SAM's club for shopping, a box of bottled coke; a big pack of gum; and a box of muffin for breakfast. I totally spent around $32 for that. I felt so bad after I look at my receipt. I should live frugally, and not to spend too much on something that I don't really need. On the other hand, I was trying to comfort myself. Do you feel the same after spend a certain amount of money?

i wouldn't go to the store for comfort. i wouldn't buy those items at sam's club. if you truely needed the comfort of those items you could have gone to another store & bought less quantity for less money.
when i look for comfort i turn to family & friends, not muffins. sorry.

I think you're missing the point. Unless things like the Coke is on sale super cheap with coupons (like say - 2 cases for $4 = 24 cans of soda), then the best bet is a warehouse store. At a normal grocery store a case tends to be kind of pricey normally, sometimes $4 or more. I think you can get 36 pks of soda there for about $7.89 or something like that, if you divide by the total cost they are cheaper per can that way. If only one person is drinking them and they don't even drink one every day, it might last a month and a half. That doesn't sound un-frugal to me. Same deal with the muffins. I know that I can get a huge case of giant muffins at Costco and they aren't that expensive. If I cut the muffins in half and freeze some of them, only keeping out the few I'd eat that week and thawing out a few at a time in the future, those would also last about a month and a half, since I think they come 12 to a box - cut in half that makes 24. Granted I don't buy muffins anyway because I prefer other things for breakfast but I'm making a point here. Either way, buying food items IS a necessity, so bagging on anybody for what they choose is kind of a pointless thing to do.

Sometimes I feel bad. However, when I look at most of the items I buy, I can see that they'll help us the next week when they're more expensive.

It is really happening. I got satisfied with what I bought but after that there's a guilty feeling on it.

I have learned a long time ago not to spend money on things that I will not use or eat. It is a waste of money to buy things you really don't need but if you truly eat those things, than I suggest that you compare the prices from your local grocery store to the prices at Sams club and see if you are saving money. In today's economy it's imperative that we try not to overspend or spend money on things we don't necessarily need, eat or use.

I sometimes do regret! When the cashier hands me the receipt, and the totals shows more than my budget. I don't regret it for too long. I too too the decision to pay for the things I took

I usually feel bad after I spend any amount of money. It's not like I earn a lot anyway, and sometimes I feel like I could really work on spending my money a bit wiser than I do, so I feel guilty for buying things that I know I need anyway. It's hard getting over that rut though.

definitely..you're not alone in this kind of problem..i usually overspend when i buy groceries.even if i bring a list i still end up buying things that are not on the list..i guess everybody has an "impulsive-buyer" streak in ourselves.we just have to learn how to control it,and practicing it as well.

Hello,
I understand what is really going on now but if you work to make your living then you shouldn't feel bad about it at all. Those money are for those that you need not to keep for nothing? you are lucky to spend only $32 but for me, everytime I go there... then at lease over $100 or something. I have to get food for my kids and then juice and then milk and then other stuff that I need.
If I spend on something that I dont really need then I feel bad but not on food tho cuz we have to live with it.

I wouldn't feel bad at all about the things you bought. That's not much at ALL to spend at a warehouse like Sam's Club or Costco. I know I spent at least that much getting stuff for a bbq I had recently, and when I go to Costco to stock up on bulk items, I probably spend about 4 times that much. I try not to go more than once a month though, and it does save in the long run - industrial sized packages of things means it's cheaper per serving and it lasts longer with 3 or 4 people eating whatever it is. For instance - granola bars or mixed nuts? If I go to the regular grocery store, those things are expensive if I'm trying to get 5 lbs or a 30-45 bars. At costco I think the big container of nuts is like 10 bucks and so are the granola bars.

i have had it happened to me a lot of times already. buying something that i dont really need, then regretting it after wards. im trying to live frugally too now, so most of the time i dont go out at all. and when i go out and have to buy something i dont bring that much money, because i know myself, i would be reaching or buying something will regret later on.

I feel really bad after spending a huge amount. What happens with me is that I spend money in excitement and then regret for it.

I do hate spending money thou!

Hi, i can understand how you feel. Anyway, it is still good that you're aware that you've spent more than you need, as least you know it. So, you may just take it as a reminder, to try to stop yourself from repeating all this in future. Once in a while, it is stil fine to spend a little bit more, to buy things for yourself, just as a good treat for yourself after working hard to earn the money.
For me, i've been always careful in spending that i seldom will let myself 'out of control' and spend to buy the things which i do not need. If i really did it,...ops..ya, i'll fell regret for it too, and will try to save a little bit in the next few days, in order to cover back the overspent amount.

I will totally feel the same. Even though the difference is that my friends often looking after me, so that usually I don't spend much. But because the limited budget that I have, I sometimes feel sad to spend any money, but maybe that's just me okay? Sometimes I treat my friends to eat with me and I lose many money because of that lmao. I guess all depends on the condition I guess :')

A quote says whenever you spend your money on something that is not important, you won't have the money for something that is important.
On my part, I am more careful now when it comes to spending. I used to regret, but I am just in the midst of stress if I continue thinking. So now, I'd rather be happy and just spend my money carefully.
But its not bad to give yourself something to be fun, even if it means spending isn't it? I mean we only have one life to live and if all the time we are limited to small things, we won't enjoy it much.
