Hello mylotters!!!
My computer is of
1gb ram
intel board
3.06 celeron processor
My pc takes about more than 45 minutes to burn a dvd of 4.7 gb completly. While in my friend's computer having less ram and less processor take about 15 minutes to do this job. And it takes more than 15 minutes to copy files in pendrive. Its much faster in my other friends computer. And when i listen to songs and install any program simultaniously , computer becomes too slow. I can see frames moving in my computer. And sound comes with break too.
What might be my computer's problem? plz i need help...

What I can suggest is probably the last solution for your problem. If when you bought it, it's not that slow, then it only mean one thing. Your computer is seriously affected by viruses, that's why it's becoming too slow. You have the best choice of reformatting your harddisk. Before you do that, of course you have to back-up all the important files in your computer. Then make sure you have the drivers of your computer with you. Then you need an OS. Then you can reformat your harddisk now. That is the last and best thing to do if your computer is really not functioning well anymore. I'm sorry but this is my opinion. I hope your computer get well soon. Happy myLotting!

What's your OS, are you using Vista now? If you will downgrade it to XP, you will see the difference in speed. Vista is not really advisable for single core computers as it uses a lot of memory. Or either your harddisk is too large or too small, coz compatibilty is also important. If it is that slow from the time you bought it, then what I can suggest is, a downgrade of OS. Get back to Windows XP and your computer will surely get faster.

Hmm i am not using vista. I have windows xp sp3 in mine. But no matter what Os i put its same. Can it be due to processor. Most of my friend and brother says its due to the celeron processor. They say they are not good. Is celeron processor really bad?
What my brother says is "celeron processor has very low cache memory and it cannot carry out multitasking efficient." Can this be the reason? Are celeron processor really bad?
Thanks for responsing and hope to get response again .....

you didn't mention your operating system. Do you regularly delete your recent documents, temporary files and cookies etc. IF u uninstall software there is a some chance that registry files cannot been uninstall. So it is so better to installed some registry cleaner software. you didn't mention your pc speed, would you face speed problem only in your DVD writer means try to change your DVD writer, in my computer i can write one DVD that means 4.7 GB in nearly 13 minutes. But it is sure it is not a virus problem because if the system also became slow, then it may be a virus problem but u didn't mention that processing speed in your pc. ok try to change you DVD Writer....

hello handsomerohith!!!
I use windows xp sp 3. I have an anti tools for deleting temporary files in my computer. Do you mean processor of computer? then its 3.06ghz celeron processor.
I will check out my friends dvd writer in my pc. But the problem is not only with the burning dvds only. When programs(like nero, office,or some bigfile game ) are being installed in computer from harddisk or pendrive or cds it becomes too slow, looks as it has low frame rate. And also takes more time to copy files from pendrive.
What i want to ask is
Can it be due to celeron processor?
but no one responded about it.:-(
Anyway thanks for response and looking forward for your response again ...

well friend you have to change your dvd/cd writer the 1gb ram doesnt matter it will not speedup your writer..........and about speeding up your computer you need to clear all temporary files some times this files becomes huge in quantity and cause our computers to operate slow..........for cleaning this files use ccleaner this is the best of all softwares i have used for cleaning these files

thanks for response friend !!! Once i have tested my dvd writer in my friends computer and i don't think there is problem in it. It worked very fine. Even if there is the problem in dvd writer then why is my pendrive slow too and why is there break when two programs are used simultaneously.Anyway have a nice time mylotting!!!

I think you have slower computer. burning DVD-s slower maybe the problem of your dvd-recorder. and when you see frames on your monitor I think it's your driver problem. make sure you have all your drivers installed. and check your startup too. just leave programs that you really use :)

i could be the problem of dvd rom but other applications are slow too. And drivers are installed automatically in computer. Once my brother told it may be because of celeron processor. He said celeron processor are really slow. Is it?
Anyway thanks a lot for response.

yes Celeron processors are cheaper because they are slow. they don't have much cache. yous your computer installs drivers automatically but it's not enough. you should install them by yourself to have all abilities your computer have. install your video card driver and you won't see graphic as frames.

ur computer has got affected by a virus. It seems that u have got a old machine with ddr1 in it.u should upgrade ur nachine in order to meet with speed. To write a dvd, u need more temporary disk space which is covered in drive c: .u should remove all temporary files stored there.u will find a software called tuneup utilities which can maintain ur computer to the fullest.

Hum, that's a interesting question. You might need to clean out your computer, you be amazed what's still on there. You might have to go through each file and manually delete things. It also depends on what you have on your computer, such as pictures, games, etc. Your friend might not have that much on their computer compared to yours, which makes theirs faster. If you have a lot on yours, maybe investing in a 3 or 4 gb, and a higher processor, which makes a huge difference. You can also add more memory. That's about all I can think of that would help make your computer go faster.

since you mentioned that from the beginning your system is slow.. its either problem with your motherboard data transfer or your bios is miss configured..
so if you have not tuneup your bios for some particular settings.. then i recommend you do a bios reset.. this is simple procedure..
as soon as you press the power button, start tapping delete button, in some case its F2 .. just confirm that..
after pressing delete you will enter into bios setup , now you might find exit at the top.. just scroll to it and now in exit menu you will find something like load bios default or load optimal default or load custom default..
if any of these are available just hit that and then press F10 or save changes and then reboot.. now boot your system and check if the problem is solved..
its better to reinstall whole windows after bios reset and verify if its proper..
if this doesn't solve your problem then its problem with your motherboard bus controller and also check if all the bus's are connected properly from your motherboard to Hard-disk and DVD Write..

I suggest you to check the speed rating of both the writer and the supports you are using, then if they should be faster than what they are, try to check if your drives are pata, if they are so hard drive and dvd writer should not be in the same ide channel as master and slave but on two different ide channels. (but anyway it seems strange to have such a slowing for this reason).

Check if there is any virus or not, or if ram is installed properly or not.

How bout available space left in the hard disk? Been fragmenting lately? I'm not sure but my old laptop had really small amount of free space in the C drive, it takes the longest time to even close certain programs I opened before like Word! And I couldn't even figure out what was clogging most of the space after cleaning up and everything, the free space was still really little, like a few gigs.

The DVD drive write rate might have been lowered in the application's settings, the flash drive might be old. After approximately 1 million writes to each transistor, the transistors start to loose the ability to hold data.

Delete unnecessary files and run defrag
Check for viruses and adware and remove them.
You have a windows machine, unfortunately I can't suggest much more. I run on a Mac and I don't have those problems

Have you tried a defrag. I used a paid-for program called, PerfectDisk 7 that defrags on two levels. One standard defrag and the other defrags right down into the registry etc.
Sometimes I forget to defrag and the computers slows down and I have awful problems and it can even crash. But then I run the deep defrag (and I can run it whilst doing other things), and it feels like I have a new machine. I have a 3GHZ pentium 4 processor and 1 GB of RAM, and I am running Windows XP. - Derek

try optimizing your computer, sometimes a cluttered hard disk drive affects the overall performance of computers.
do defragmentation once in a while specially when you download files almost everyday. also check your drives if there is still enough space.
