Most importantly, you need to make sure you are consuming enough water throughout the day. If you are even slightly dehydrated you are going to be prone to cramps. Make sure your drinking AT LEAST 8 8ounce glasses of water a day.
Next, make sure you do some light stretching throughout the day. When you lift your muscles will become tight and they sometimes will cramp.
Water and proper stretching will keep you mostly cramp free!

That has happened to me too. When I start to increase my weights or stop exercising for a while and then start again, my muslces hurt a lot over the next few days. Once I get use to the extra weight or get back into the routine, I don't get the cramps anymore. I will use a heating pad sometimes and take some pain relief like Tylenol.

Hi, i want to ask you something. Did you actually did stretching before hitting the gym? It helps to avoid too much pain after gym. Anyway, because you are already feeling the pain, the best thing you can do is to strecth and do aerobic exercise. Just move the muscles, stretch them. If you still feeling pain, maybe just take 1 pain reliever or apply ointment to the part that is really hurting.
I hope you feel better soon. Next time you will hit the gym, make sure you do the stretching exercises first.
Happy mylotting and smile always!
