I was at the nursing home Friday visiting my friend jad & two ladies walked in w/a basket of cookies. I found out they were mother & daughter & had brought cookies for every patient in the nursing home. they didn't make the cookies they said which made no difference at all it was just the nice thought. they were decorated cookies form the wal-mart bakery, they had wrapped each one individually & tied a bow on them. come to find out the mother was a girl i had gone to church w/when i was small & her parents were good friends of my parents. Neither of us recognized each other. we hadn't seen each other in years because she has just moved back to the area. S he has noone in the home just did it out of the kindness of her heart. Wasn't that a kind thing to do?

That was really nice. I also like to do altruistic stuff, like that because i think it is very important in nowadays world. We need to show some concern about everyone around us. I really liked what happened and i think it shows how there are still kind people around. Hopefully, this little actions will make a great difference tomorrow. Best regards

Thanks for your response. U are so right we all need to do more for people especially the elderly that are often forgotten once they are put in the homes. They are very sad places to visit but we still need to go.

Hi lady, it is so kind of this lady to bring cheers to the home. Her actions should be emulated by others. It is more blessed to give than anything. Your soul is nourished when you are kind.

It was a lovely thing to do, AL - and another good thing is that you met your old friend again. Maybe you'll be able to get together and enjoy eachother's company some time. It's nice to know there are still people with good hearts in the world.

I don't know which one of us was the most surprised when she was telling the lady in the room w/jan who she was. I would think it was well appreciated. I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY SWEET.

How sweat!!!! That is wonderful when people just do something out of the kindness of their heart. And elderly people love seeing other people...they don't care if they know them or now. My grandfather (who is now deceased) used to live in a nursing home. At the time my oldest son was just a toddler. The elder people used to love when my son came to visit "his great grandfather" because he would run from room to room and talk to everyone. I used to be so embarassed cause my son was running all over the place, until the nurses one day said "don't be embarassed because the old folks love to see young people".

That is a very nice thing to do. My grandma would get so excited when people would do sweet things like that. It really brought her spirits up.

Hi Jo, that was really nice of her to do. Wow. I hope to some day get past my fear and do such a thing for the old and elderly. I enjoy their company so much for they have so much wisdom and stories to tell that I find very interesting. I wish so much I had recorded my grandmother when she told her stories but now she's forever gone and so are her stories, except the ones that I can remember.

yes I have to agree with you my friend... A single act of kindness which would actually inspire some person who have witnessed it just a single act could make a big difference....

Hi Antiquelady, that was a nice gesture indeed. The other day I was visiting a friend in the hospital and knew that two others from local villages were also in there, decided to take up bottles of frozen water to pass around as it was unbearably hot and I thought they might go down well. All three patients were male by the way and Greek males do not like to eat sweet things so rather than taking a home made cake thought ice water would be fine. Amazingly none of them actually wanted it, they preferred the luke warm water they already had. They were suspicious of the unknown as it was obvioulsy a foreign idea. Glad your ladies cookies had a better reception!

This was so nice of the lady and her daughter to do this! Wouldn't it be nice if more people took the time out to visit the nursing homes more often? They would really be blessed if they did. I bet it was a real shock to both of youall when you each introduced yourselves to find out that youall knew each other years ago. I'm glad youall got to see each other again. Kathy.

Yeah that's indeed a really kind thing to do. There're not much people like her nowadays who are so willing doing all these good dids voluntarily and this has just shown her selflessness and how kind-hearted she is. I believe what she's done would be a very good start to influence others and hopefully will get more people to do the same to help out others who are really in need of help. Isn't it very nice to just doing some simple things and it helps to cheer other people up?

U are so right, most people don't take the time to do things for other people. I thought it was very kind of her & very unselfish. More people should think about others who are not as lucky as they are. Thanks for your response.
