There are some people who prefer to work alone even when they have to work in a group and other times people want to work in a group but they have to go at it alone. I like to work alone. Maybe because all of my jobs required me to work alone or maybe it is that I just know what I have to get done and get it done instead of waiting on others. What do you guys thinking about working alone opposed to working in a group.

I would prefer to work in a group. I like doing things on my own but sometimes its nice to have someone have your back and know what your going through. I currently work by myself now. I have no co-workers and it absolutly sucks. Im alone all day and all the good and bad falls on my shoulders no matter if I have something to do with it or not.

Yeah the person needs to be reliable and even when I have a ton of work to do Im still bored cause I have no one to talk to. Being busy just makes the day go by faster for me.

You have a point in someone being there to have your back, providing they are reliable because you can have someone working with you but you it's like you are alone. When you don't have much to do and you are working by yourself, it can be boring but when you have a tonne load of work to do, it's not boring at all for me because there is so much to do.

I guess if you are working in a profession , its better you get used to working in a team . Your way of getting things done with others comes with experience when you get used to your team and know each other. By working alone you are just carrying a over burden on you , more responsible and extra stress and pressure. But most of them feel that they are the perfect and they hesitate to trust others but thats so unprofessional.

Yes I agree with you a person or a two can just disturb the teams momentum. But you can try discussing the issue if possible.

It can be a lot of work when you have to do it by yourself depending on what you are doing and the hours can be long and stressful. I have had to work in groups before and when everyone does what they have to do things can go smoothly. However when one person or more is not doing what they have to do then it can be a mess when you are depending on them. It's is not always the case, but sometimes it is.

I work alone and this is o.k. with me. I have worked in a group but oh, the politics and confusion tyhat can take place. The Staff room was a hot bed of gossip when I was teaching. I think that I now prefer to work alone as I only have my boss to trouble me and that is usally by phone or email. Yep, prefer to be on my own and no I do not get lonely as the phone is constantly ringing.

Yes.. the gossip and bickering can be a strain when you are working in a group. I is not lonely when you have a lot of work to do and it can make the day go by faster. I am okay working alone but if I had a group of people who were reliable and had good chemistry with then yes, definitely.

i personally think that working alone is quite a boring thing to do, not to mention the act that you miss out on so much learning. working with groups allows you to meet different people with different skills. this allows us to learn from each other, intergroup skills,so on and so forth.

Well for some people working alone can be boring and for others they prefer to work in a group. I respect either way. My jobs required that I work alone. it has always been that way so as I was saying in my post, perhaps it is why I have become so used to doing it. I just get my job done. Working in a group could be nice providing you have the right chemistry and I am not opposed to that. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

I like working in a team because it is just like your playing a game if you belong to a team that are like your brothers and sisters. Work is not too hard while you enjoy doing the tasks assigned to you if your group is bonding well and so comfortable with each other. You learn something new from your team members and you are able to share what you know to them, thus knowledge transfer happens. Working alone is okay for me sometimes but work is quite boring if you are just alone in your desk and doing all your tasks for long hours.

Working in a group does allow you to learn from each other and learn together and you can form some lasting bonds when you have or can create the right kind of chemistry. There are times though when those people in the group can set out to undermine you and hinder you. However not everyone is like that and there can be some nice people working in a group with you.

i like to work in group. its fun working with other people . you get to know new people , how they are , you also learn many things from them. working alone is boring , its just you and you only. no one to interact with , which is lifeless

Well I would not say that you won't interact with anyone. That is not always the case because sometimes you do, it's just that you are getting the job that by yourself even if you have other people who may provide support in some way.

I don't mind working alone. I actually like it to a point as I can get the work done that I know needs to be done and I don't have anyone interferring with that plan. I can work in a group but I would say that I prefer to work alone. It sems that others interrupt my train of thought and then it takes me longer to do the work that I want to do.

hello trinee, You are right about that, working in a group but you will spend a lot of times waiting for your group mates, make it more delaying and time consuming. But then they say that two heads are better than one. I guess, we need to adjust sometimes to what we're accustomed to so we can learn more. This way, we can improve too. Making friends, new ideas and the likes. It's much more fun for you can laugh with them, make it more easier. Rather than working alone, you can not laugh alone.

Hi, i think it is both good to be working in a group or working alone. For me, i do not really have the preferences to work alone or working with others ina group. It actually depends on what type of work i was assigned to do. For those kind of work which requires different aspects or different areas of knowledge and ideas, it is of course better to have more people working on it. I actually feel good to work with other people in a group that it can be fun and great sense of unity where all of the members working towards to achieve the same goal. However, i know also that more people in a group would mean more different types of opinion and point of views. This is the tough and challenging part of it, where everyone should be tolarate and considerate enough to work together nicely as a team.

I'm comfortable with both being alone and in a group. I'm a HR Professional and I got to play both team role and individual as my wowk requires it that way. I prefer to work alone as I'm not interested in competition. However i can't avoid being ina group now and lucky enough no one can compete as I stay high in my post!

i am afraid be lonely, so i dont like work alone, but i prefer work alone than work with people who are out of harmony with me. one of the most important thing of work is good feeling. the colleague is important ,they affect your feeling. work in perfectly hamony with colleague is lucky.

It all depends on the kind of job. I like to work alone when I´m writing or when I had to correct papers when I worked at the University. But there are other instances where people help. Even at writing. We have a sort of writer friend´s workshop and we read what the other hsave written and give our opinion. That is very important: many times one thinks something has been said but it´s not clearly said. As for studying, I like to study alone and then get together with a friend to exchange ideas.

I prefer working alone, having a group drags me down or slows the work coz they depend too much on the leader. During high school, since most of us are trained to be independent I love working in a group coz I get to receive constructive ideas for each member but when I get to college it seems that people are getting so lazy... It really depends what kind of people you're working with. I hate an extra baggage so at times like that I prefer to work alone.

I prefer to work alone. I have not had good experiences in groups. Plus, they drag me down and waste a lot of time brain storming. I am very focused and task oriented. I like to get the job done. All that talkin' wears me out. By the time everybody is ready to work on the project I don't want to be bothered with it anymore LOL..

I've always been a loner, myself. Maybe it was because I was an only child, or that we moved around every few months until I started school. Whatever the case, I remember as far back as first or second grade preferring to work by myself. I have a really strong "If you want something done right..." mentality and have always found that I'm much more productive working alone. Being in a group breeds distraction and when I'm working on something I want to get it DONE. I don't want to sit around BSing about the latest movie or music, I want to get my work done so I can move onto something else. Whenever I was forced to be in groups in school I always ended up being the one doing all of the work while the rest just sat around talking, taking an equal share in the credit. Slackers.
