The new season of Torchwood started tonight. Anyone else watch it? What did you think to it and its new 5 episode format?
Personally I'm looking forward to the new format - it better matches Dr Who of old but without the week wait between cliffhangers.
I looks like the silly car has lost its blue flashing lights and Torchwood written down the side. W00T!

You are sooooo lucky in the UK. Here in the States, Torchwood:Children of the Earth, does not start until July 20 - 2 whole weeks from now!
Personally, I would prefer it in a weekly format. Having it on all in one week and it is gone - over like a flash and then there are weeks and weeks and months and months of waiting for more Torchwood to possibly come on. Over 5 weeks, that is more than an entire month of enjoyment and anticipation for each episode.

You are not the only one who has to wait 6 months to a year for a series. When we were just starting to get Robin Hood on BBC America - the entire first season had already been shown AND released on DVD!
With satelite communications as advanced as they are, there really is no excuse for people not being able to watch programs being broadcast in other countries.

Not so lucky. Every other show and we Brits have to wait a good 6 months to a year. If they come out at all (this is getting a bit better, T:SCC was only a month or so behind). On the plus side this means most people come misses the great shows cancelled before their time (like Drive & Firefly ).
Showing it daily I think is working. Making a week special has made the show into more of an event than it would have been if it was just a weekly season.

Give me Doctor Who anyday, sorry but I can't stand John Barrowman to be honest, mind you I will only watch Doctor Who if it's got the Daleks or the Cybermen in it, anything else is just flimsy. I am showing my age here but I was brought up on John Pertwee and Tom Baker. Don't get me wrong Torchwood is a good idea but it's just not enough to interest me, guess I'm not a real Doctor Who fan. Bad Wolf!

John Barrowman can be irritating. The whole Russell T Davies "every one must be slightly gay" thing really gets up my noise. The new season has quite good so far.
John Pertwee and Tom Baker are great Doctors but the last two have held their own nicely.
