Hi all, In this fast running era, i really wonder how many of you really know your next door neighbours. I just moved in a new house about a month back, but all are so busy, working parents, couples, they just say hi n move on. Back home at myparents place, we used know them all, and used to share there joys n sorrows. What about you n ur neighbours???

Yep was true, when we were kids, my mom needn't much worry about our food, if she had some other important work..

Well me and my recent neighbours were good friends until he passed away from a heart attack. I do truly miss him. His wife decided to move out of town and so i haven't seen them since. My new neighbours don't seem to be very.. 'neighbourish'. They never came over to say hello or anything like that.

In my hometown, everybody knows everybody, and almost everyone is a relative of everyone. It's like you can't marry anyone there because chances are, you and the guy are relatives. But where I live now, which is in the city, I don't even know the name of the family that lives next door. I rarely see any of my neighbors and if I do, I just say hi and hello, no other small talks that will at least give me an idea of who they are.

I'm a friendly person, I know them quite well now. I moved to this place 3 months ago. When I settled in, I made some chicken curry and visited both my neighbours. I got myself and hubby introduced. My first neighbour is an old loving couple with a son and a dsughter. Both their children married and have a son each. This couple living by themselves and their children visits them every fort-night. My second neighbour is actually realted to first. The first neighbour aunty and the second neighbour aunty are sisters. They too have two children, both are girl and they are married. Their children also visits them every fort-night. It's good to communicate to our neighbours as they are our nearest help to seek for an emergency.

My neighbour is my sister in law's family, sister's to my wife. Therefore, we helps each other out. I live in double storey house and my house is the side lot. Therefore, technically, I only have one nextdoor neighbour. However, I usually drop by my other neighbour houses to help them with their internet or pc problem. I roughly know them.

Reading about your view, you seem to have shifted to a new locality, so according to me you should give some time to yourself and your neigbours to know them well, this will happen as the time passes by. So be patient, you'll surely develop good relations with your neighbours.

No I just gree them in the morning but I don't even know his or her name. I just did not bother. I just be nice but I dont feel the urge of being on friendly terms. I have been living for four years in this neighborhood. After a lot of time I developed a close friendship with my ex neighbor we used to watch soccer matches together.

I belong to Pakistan and I proudly say its a social country with high Asian social values. I know all of my neighbors, I communicate with them daily at least exchanging greetings. Here everyone takes care of people around themselves or at least try so. Exceptions are everywhere but mostly why I like my country than any other developed country that here WE are HUMANS not MACHINES.

Hello, I know all my neighbors as we live in an apartment with only 5 houses. I am not quite sure whether they play any role in our lives, however it is good to know people living besides you. Sometimes, your neighbors become your friends and you often go out with them to socialize...and sometimes it so happens as you said because of fast life these days, we do not even know them!!!

when i was growing up we knew every one on the street, not just our next door neighbors. since we moved here to the country i know a few of our neighbors maybe 3 of them but where we live we have only one that is close, and we met them the day that we moved in, they came over and introduced them selves, we have only one across the street because they have a big farm with a lot of cows. and on the other side of us is a big horse farm.

if in the countryside, we know the neighbours very well, cause we all are relatives.hehe... but now in the big city. some dont know or only know little. my neighbour is a couple with their twin (a daughter and a son). i just know the host is a policeman, while the hostess just stays at home to take care of her family. only when we meet, we'll smile and say hello. just so, and nothing more until now.

The last time I knew who my neighbours were was back in early high school. Since then I've moved a lot, and have never gotten to know my neighbours. As it is between work and other committments, I'm rarely home, so I'm lucky to even see my neighbours. My partner and I moved into a new apartment last December, and I think we've only seen our neighbours twice in that time. While I somtimes think it would be good to have a network of friendly neighbours, I also enjoy my privacy so I'm not really bothered by the thought that I don't know anyone in my building.

Yes I know my neighbors well. I can't live in a certain location if I didn't know my neighbor. It is also important because if there are some activities within the area you can have some unity with them. Some activities like parties are also important to know your neighbors a lot. Invite them and have some stories to tell so that you can learn from them and also them to you.

I know this might sound mean, but I know them and don't care for them. They constantly starting problems with me and my family. Neighbors on both sides of my house (live in the suburbs, real close together), are always giving me problems, and I just kind of want to be left alone.

Sad to say I'm not on first name basis with any of my neighbours. I guess people are too busy these days, theres no real excuse however and we only have ourselves to blame. It's a shame too because a friendly neighbourhood is a safer one, you know people will more likely come to your aid if you ever need help.
