I don't care if anyone responds or not, I have to do this! I started the FIRST discussion when Michael Jackson died! And I have to end it! I watched the Memorial Service and it was gut wrenching, at least to me! If you care to comment, PLEASE DO SO! When I saw his beautiful daughter try to say good-bye that was it for me! I thought some of the other tributes made me choke up, but nowhere near when Paris grabbed the microphone at the end...I loved Michael Jackson and I don't care who on here knows it. This post is only for those who have pleasant things to say, if you don't please don't bother! Thank you, Opal!

The world is definitely a much smaller place without Michael Jackson in it. He revolutionized music videos. He was such a humanitarian, donating so much to children's issues. I know he has issues, but who doesn't? That was his life to live it the way he wanted. He gave the world so much and asked for nothing in return, except maybe for a little privacy. I never believed he was guilty of those crimes he was accused of. I honestly don't think he could ever harm a child... ever! A true icon is gone and the world mourns. Just seeing everything being written and shown about him is a testament to the impact he's had on all of us.

Hey mentalward! I wonder how many people who put Michael down realized how much good and how much he gave to the world! I will never believe that he ever hurt any child ever! I hope that he is a peace not and no longer in pain~

They probably never took the time to see the good side of him, which was much better than most people! So what if he altered his appearance? It was his life, his body. He didn't selfishly spend all his money on himself! I remember hearing about that Pepsi commercial he was filming when something exploded behind him and caught his hair on fire. He won $1 million from that accident and donated every penny of it to charity. His Neverland Ranch was open to children with terminal illnesses so that they might enjoy a bit of time they had left. He really did give so much, well above and beyond what anyone putting him down has ever given, I'm sure! I'm glad that he's no longer in pain but I do miss him already. There's one song of his that I absolutely LOVE and it became my own personal theme song, one that I live by: "Man in the Mirror". He had one tour that he pretty much paid for himself, out of his own pocket because the special effects cost way more than what the ticket sales brought in. He said he did it because he wanted to give his fans what they wanted: a spectacular show. He definitely had something that no one has had before and I strongly doubt no one will ever have in the future. He truly was the King of Pop, but he was also so much more.

HI Opal, I think MJ is the most misunderstood public figure, artist and parent in the history of the entertainment world. He has split personality and seemed to be a soft spoken person with a compassionate heart. He was one of the most talented singer that has rocked the world and has touched many hearts throughout his singing career. His name has become the household name in many countries. I would think many of the suits thrown against him was done out of jealousies as he was one of the richest pop singer that people took advantage of because of his closeness to children. He is gone now but his name will linger on for many many years to come. May his soul rest in peace.

Hi zandi, I believe that he was misunderstood in many ways. He was a very kind and generous man. It is a shame that people don't want to remember him for all the great things that he has done and prefer to believe what they think he might have done instead!

I thought I was! I was very moved by the tribute to MJ today. I don't think it was too much. I loved him too! Always enjoyed him and felt badly when he was so accused by people who wanted money. I think it was very well done today and I enjoyed it. I feel sorry for the kids and all who were greaving and being filmed.

Hi leenie, I did love Michael Jackson and I am not ashamed to admit it! I believe he was wronged and that caused him so much pain! I just hope that he is now at peace and that his children will be able to go on without him.

I missed the whole thing, but I have read it was an emotional situation. There have been some material posted in the MyLot news, such as: http://www.mylot.com/w/newsarticle/21983937.aspx & http://www.mylot.com/w/newsarticle/21981884.aspx The loss of a parent is a horrible incident for the kids to go through, especially at that age. I went through this back in 2004. I also know people who have been through it, & at any age, it can take a toll on someone. Of all the people who attended, I would have thought that Diana Ross, a lifelong friend of his, would have been there. I can also understand it, because she would have been expected to sing, & from losing someone she considered a good friend, she would have had been too broken up to do a decent performance.

Another absentee was Kennedy Gordy (aka Rockwell). I saw some pieces of it on the internet, & didn't notice him (so there may be a chance that they just didn't show him). It was actually Michael Jackson, himself, who helped him with that one big hit he had titled, Somebody's Watching Me. As a matter of fact, if you listen to the song, you'll recognize the vocals singing that line: "I always feel like ... Somebody's watching me" That was Michael singing it.

Hey KK! I thought that it was a copout for Diana Ross to not be there! But, that is typical of her and sad since Michael idlolyzed her. I hope more than anything that his children will be ok because they afterall is said and done have lost their Dad who they loved so much.

Oh wait, now I'm saying bad things in my own discussion. I just felt that if his family could all be there then Diana Ross could have pulled herself together and been there too! Afterall she was named as a possible guardian to his children. Sorry for the minute of anger! Shame on you Opal! My Bad!

Sweet I hope no one does write anything nasty here I was not a Fan MJ but he did do some good Music, I saw bits of it on the News this morning and it brought tears to my eyes, specially the bit with Paris and I can imagine that if I feel like this watching bits of it not being a Fan, how it would have hit People who are Fans like you What gets me right now is, the fight over the Children, and all else those Children have just lost their Dad, and MJ's Dad is fighting for everything, to what I see on the News, including the Children. They need to be in a loving environment right now, just loosing their Dad that they loved so much, not all the carry on. Rest in Peace Michael Jackson Hugs to you Sweetheart

I have just watched part of it on my Laptop and considering I was not fan, I cried It was very emotional to see the Family, Friends hurting, but Paris tore very much at my heart, as it all came through very clear on here, like his Brother said, lets hope they leave him alone now Might not be a Fan, but I think it is terrible what he went through

It was really heart-wrenching to see beautiful Paris crying like that. I'm sure it was such a difficult speech for her but she was so brave to do that. I didn't manage to catch the memorial but watched snippets on the tube. Usher singing was awesome too..

There were twice repeat telecast in my country the day after the real broadcast. So, thrice in a row. It's a somber moment and something truly magnificent but in a sad way. Thanks for sharing this discussion, my friend..

I watched the memorial service to until it ended. It was sad and I cried when his daughter got up their and started talking. She said I miss you and love you daddy and I broke down. My heart was breaking over that little girl missing her dad. I wished he didn't die. Its going to be so hard on his kids. He loved his kids so much and anyone in the world could see that.

Hi strawberry! It was so heartbreaking to see his sweet daughter, Paris and the love she had for her Daddy. I hope that his children will be able to go on with their lives knowing how much they were truly loved. And I hope the world will be able to see that Michael Jackson was a human being who loved his children and now deserves to be able to rest in peace~

I agree with you very much. I know he misses his kids. And its very sad he left this earth so early. He wasn't that old. He still had many years left. So many people say those kids weren't his or he didn't have them to a women. But in my eyes know matter what those kids are his and they all loved each other anyone could see that. It bothered me when people where saying bad things about him. People don't know how to keep their nose out of it. Like others that don't talk don't have problems of their own to deal with. I thought Michael Jackson was a great person and his kids are beautiful.

Thank you for starting this discussion Opal! From last night I couldn't stop my sobs..can't believe he's gone for real..when I heard Paris's speech, oh my tears, just couldn't stop it! I loved all the speaches and I loved Brooke Shields's speech the best! Ofcourse Ursher's song and the best song will be MJ's favourite 'Smile' sang by Jermaine Jackson. I was at work and a cheated. I watched the memorial at my desk on my computer. I thought it was beautifully put together. Every single bit of it was so lovely. When Paris spoke at the end that did it for me, I had to get some kleenex to wipe my eyes! It was like being at a friends memorial, it was very personal.

That was a sad moment. You never want to see a child have to permanently say bye to their dad no matter what you think of their dad. And as for me i dont care what was said about him he was a good musician.

Hi minnie, I believe that he was innocent and that he was a good and kind, generous caring man and didn't deserve to be treated the way he was. I hope that his children will be able to get on without him even though it will be very difficult for them. His music will live on forever~

I grew up listening to most of his songs I love some of his songs mostly ballads Someone in the dark, Farewell my summer love and One day in your life especially heal the world. I am introvert and I keep to myself a lot, so some of his ballads really fit how I felt and what happened in those years I was younger. What saddens me most is that I actually thought someday he would make a comeback and all those years he never performed, I thought he was just waiting for the right time to come back and make a great new album I couldn't watch the memorial I had an appointment and I couldn't bring myself to but today I decided that if something or someone has to go then they shall if I don't let them go I will be guilty holding him back from starting a new journey besides why would we keep him in this world? look at the way people treated him! No, he deserves the rest. I've replied to enough discussions about Michael Jackson. This will be my last. I'm tired of hateful comments. There is no talent like his. Nobody can perform his songs like he did. That is it.

The memorial service was one of the best I've ever witnessed, Opal, and I have not cried so much for a long time. My tears were not all about sadness so much as about the dignity and love of the event. The elite(people who could see into Michael's heart), were not at all surprised to see such an outpouring of love for fallen star. Someone had the audacity to say to me that little Paris's comments were rehearsed! To me it was the highlight of the event, and about as spontaneous as it could be. I really loved Michael like he was a member of my family, and as sorry as I am to know that he is gone, I can't help but be relieved that he will no longer have to suffer the injustices that were done to him.

Hi worldwise~I must say that I have to echo your sentiments totally. I feel that the outpouring of love was real and came from the hearts of all those who truly love Michael Jackson for his talents and the good things he did for others. And only hope that his children will be able to withstand the pain and move on with their lives. I am also unfortunately agreeing with you that he is probably in a better place and no longer suffering the pain any longer~

I agree with you when I saw Paris last night it made me tear up too. I did not know that I would be so affected. He must have been a wonderful father to his children. My daughter said that she cried when she saw it. He was the most brilliant performer that we have seen. May his soul rest in peace. May he find the love and peace in God that he did not find on this earth. May our God love and protect his children too.

But, the speech by Paris was the most gut wrenching of all and I think everyone everywhere in the world who saw it finally realized that Michael Jackson was truly a wonderful man and a human being and a wonderful Father~ May the Lord Bless him and keep him and May He Rest In Eternal Peace~

Hello Opal26, Yes I did watch the memorial for Michael Jackson. There were three of us watching it on the television. I could see most in the room wipe tears away especially when his daughter spoke. I think that did it for my b/f because he was orphaned before he became a teenage and he knows the pain of losing a parent since he lost both of his parents.Since my b/f and I do an online music broadcast we combined and dedicated our three hours to music by Michael Jackson only and nothing else.
