Have you ever gone through an entire night without sleeping?

I have done this on more than one occassion due to the need to complete assignments or to meet a deadline for sewing some dresses. It is almost 5:30 am here now and I am not yet in bed. I can hear the birds and the roosters welcoming in the new day. I had no special project but just felt like doing stuff on the computer until I felt like sleeping. Sleep is just now coming so I am off to catch some snooze. I can only aford this as I am off from work this week. Have you ever done an all nighter? What was your reason for staying up all night?

I have done that a lot to where I can't sleep and I am on medication for anxiety that should make me sleep. My medication will make me sleep at times but their are times for some reason I am wide awake. I had know reason to stay awake my body just didn't want to let me sleep at that time so I couldn't sleep till almost the next morning.

He has been receiving treatment but to no availthe last time we spoke. I heard that he wants to go overseas to possibly get a change of environs and try a new treatment I guess. He was actually studying for his Masters when he developed the conditon. He is a brilliant and energetic guy but I guess it all got a bit too much for him.

Your right its not easy when you can't fall a sleep. That is why my doctor has me on medication and for the anxiety I go through. The anxiety I go through tries to keep me awake as well. The doctor has me on 2 strong medications for my anxiety and to help me rest. Have your friend talk to his doctor.

I once stayed awake for a whole 3 days playing MapleStory. That was when i was super addicted to it at that time, and brought 24hours 2EXP card for 3 days. guess what? i fell sick after that three days, was down with flu and fever. LOL! luckily there isn't any swine flu at that time, or i would have been quarantine. Nowadays i don't really stay up for the whole night, maybe stay up till 3am and i'll go to bed. Cannot afford to spoil my pretty face because of lack of sleep x]

I have done this a lot of times, mostly due to academic reasons. I usually woke up all night to study, but nowadays, I do the same to use the Happy Hours of my Internet connection and download movies, games, etc. It's a lovely feeling to wake up all night, as you can really concentrate on your work without any disturbance, and also have a lot of privacy. And then the roosters welcoming the morning (As you said) is another wonderful event when you wake up all night. Regards, AJ-Rox

I am with you. I do the same as you about two or three times a week! And I am 54! My son is quite a bit younger than I am and says he wishes he has the energy I had. I have gone 51 straight, recently. But when I was in my twenty's doin' 60+ straight was nothing. I worked 3 jobs ~ restaurant as a waitress, bar as a bartender, delivery as a newspaper thrower. it was hard being a single mom.

I guess your son and I are sailing in the same boat there. I doubt I have all that energy in me as good as I think I am.

Where we live its called Breaking night. I just recently did it with my 14 yr old. She thought it was soo cool we stayed up on the computer and watched tv. We did a little bit of everything. Its fun. I have also done it alone. What a relaxing situation. I stayed up reading, then watching television. I like those history documentaries. No one else does so I totally enjoyed being able to watch whatever I wanted. Yes breaking night can be great. dl

I have done all nighters on several occasions. The first time was when I was young living in Alaska. My sister and I stayed up all night because I was playing a game where we would fantasize about the way we wish things were. I often would have trouble sleeping at night because I would do this. It was a matter of I couldn't turn off the thinking. Then there were the times that I worked at night. Occasionally during these times, I would have to get things done so I wouldn't sleep during the day. I would almost always fall asleep about midday the next day.

I tried once, while when i was in second year college, I stayed up all night to prepare for an exam. However, I did not do well during the exam because I did not sleep. Since then I always try my best to sleep at night at least 5 hours. Even when I had my review for the Board exams, I still sleep enough hours, since sleep enhances memory .

I have done that before, everytime we had our over-night swimming with my classmates. We dare not to sleep over night, so we just sang and they get drunk while the others is swimming. But me i stay awake of eating and having karaoke.

Every night I do not sleep as I have been working in night shifts for almost 3 years, Even if we have off on weekends I do not get sleep during night time. I just surf on net and will do some work online trying to make some extra cash :) and will go to bed during day time sometimes if we have any party then forget about the sleep entirely.

Yes, I did many a time. I have gone through an entire night without sleeping. Say, last night also. Because it is too hot and we didn't had electricity whole night. It was 12:30am when it was cut and we got back at 5:45 am. Whole night we can't sleep, just waiting for power. We got asleep in the morning after the power comes back. Sleep for 2 hrs just..

Last time i did that was when my husband had a 6 am flight to China... we had to leave the apartment at 2:30 am to catch the bus going to the city so there was no point in sleeping... it was very painful in the morning because i had to represent my boss in a certain gathering... so i felt like a walking zombie...

No you did not. I just added two situations in which a person may be forced to stay awake all night. It is no fun having to stay awake when you are forced by such situations.

I am 34 now, but back when I was younger I use to. I was a party girl. Loved to hang out with friends all night and drink. Now though that I have matured more and have children of my own that run me so tired I am lucky to make it past 12! Once I tried to stay up all night to do some extra cleaning and I felt ill. Guess those days are over! Happy Mylotting!

I have. And that time it was because I was so engrossed in my new game. Those were the Counter Strike days and I have found a cool game recommended by my friend. But once the clock hits 10 AM, I was already so groggy and by noon I was knocked out! LOL..Wouldn't do that again, for sure. I think it's not healthy.

Hmm. I can only think of one instance when I did this, and it was the 18th birthday of a friend. It was done in a resort, and there were not too many beds available, so even if I wanted to sleep I really can't. That night, I stayed up until I think 7am the next day cause that was when I went back home. LOL. That night was really memorable, I stayed up with the rest of my friends, who were also not able to save a space in one of the fews beds available. LOL.

All night partying uh . I have never partied all night but I have stayed up until early morning for that purpose. Oh... we used to have some all nighters at church when we'd have socials. This was when we would meet and have games all through the night. Thanks for sharing

When I go to work at 11 to 7 in the morning, I don't sleep anymore. And I am doing it for more than 2 months already. I just sleep at daytime. Many people do that speciall those who are working at night. This isn't unusual.

yes, i have done this innumerable number of times in my life so far. during my days of education, i do this on most of the exam days. it was absolutely fantastic as it is very calm and it allows you to concentrate very well. i used to grasp most of my lessons learnt in the night very well. even after the days of education, i have done it several times due to work and other things like functions at home, etc.
