Do you let your dog have rawhide dog treats?... How often?.... I have read so much conflicting information about this that I am not sure which is true... are the treats safe or not?.... I would appreciate your opinions. Thanks!!!

We give our dog rawhides a lot, but only the plain white ones! I have heard that the flavored ones have a lot of chemicals in them so I steer clear of them. Ours is a lab and he loves them....he probably goes through one of the "chips" a day. They are good for the dog as they clean their teeth and give them a release and something to do when they are at home alone.

It depends upon which kind of rawhides you are giving to them. If you are buying them at the pet stores then those are rawhides that are approved to be healthy for dogs. We give them to our pup pretty often! He is really great and never chews on anything that is not his, but when he does have something that is his he goes through it pretty dang quick! The bones that you need to worry about are bones that you can get at grocery stores because they can be chemically treated to preserve the meat. Also do some research if you would like to buy your pup a rawhide that is flavored. We just always go with the plain bland white ones he still loves them, and we don't have to worry about how they are flavored, or about them staining our carpet!
