Yes, I was almost speechless, I really got tears in my eyes. God should have given him some more days so that he can enjoy his reputation or at least he can watch his own programs when he become old, he could see how hard work he had done. Such a big pop star had financial troubles in his last days? unbelievable. That's the fact. When god gives when takes who knows. We lost a great talented pop singer as well as dancer. It hurts me a lot when I think how little is a life. Some can not achieve any thing throughout their lives. Those who achieve will not have their life.

It didn't effect me. I wasn't a fan. I never had been a fan. Nobody I knew admitted to being a fan.
The only way I was affected by it was that I got tired of reading about it and hearing about it on tv constantly. And I'm still hearing and reading about it almost every day.

I was in shock because I knew he was having this concert series coming up. My husband was shocked as well. Growing up with Michael Jackson's music was a fun experience and that's something we'll always have.
My mom's reaction was one of sadness. She is about 6 years older than he was and remembers when he was a little boy. She remembers the first time she saw him on television and her grandmother said, "Look at that little boy just sing."
I think the media has gone nuts. He was a human being. What set him apart from many of us was the fact that he had this talent that he was able to entertain with. Yes, he was one-of-a-kind, just like we're all one-of-a-kind. He did, however, touch us. And yes, we watched through the years as things spiraled for him, but there will always be the music. :)

Michael Jackson was a creative singer, and his passing away is definately a loss in the pop music field. What impacts me most is the way he was treated during his life. Why should he be burdened by a series of rumours, some insulting his personality. The contrast is so drastic, that the civilized society really needs serious thinking. We need a more accommodating and fair society, with less steering from commercial objectives.

I was affected, because Michael Jackson was an icon, and he represented the music of my coming of age. I just cannot believe he is gone. Michael is my Elvis, and his legacy will live on!

Some of the reaction to Michael was created by Michael himself. He should not have had young boys come to his anymore after this first accusations. He had plenty of neices and nephews to fill his house with if he liked children's attention so much. What it really comes down too is he wanted the ideas of being surrounded by white kids because there were plenty of black kids he could have surrounded himself. It appeared he was trying to live out some morbid fantasy or something. He seemed to be seeking a connectiopn with what he thought was the ideal environment.
Was Michael intentionly trying to make himself white or did he have a disease that changed him? I believe it was a little of both.
I remember what Producer Qunicy Jones said about visiting Michael's house and seeing pictures of nothing but white children on the wall and saying it was abnormal. Yes Michael had the skin disease Vitilgo and had Lupus, both of which affected his pigmentation but maybe his ailment started as a result of his plastic surgeries.Maybe his surgeries caused his disease. None of his brother seem to have had any remnants of the diseases.
Through his rhythm and his music there was no doubt Michael had blackness coarsing through his viens ("Black and White" notwithstanding). Michael Jackson was a mixed African American. He was mixed up in the mind, like many African Americans who have to live in two worlds, The world of blackness and the majority white world. This duality of living has weighed a heavy burden on black men for centuries. Michael was just the latest to fall victim to it. But what a fabulous an entertaining journey he gave us.
