I like travelling and had the opportunity to travel to countries in different part of the world. Ofcourse, one gets to visit beautiful places in the countries. For me, the best part of travelling is meeting with nice people from foreign lands and cultures. It has been wonderful to learn about the traditions and the ways of life. Do you travel some times ? What has been your experience ? What did you learn from tarvelling ?

It has been wonderful, as you say, to learn about the traditions and the ways of life in other countries. But the lesson I was more interested in was that, in spite of different cultures, religions, skin colours and traditions, we are all the same. And we all deserve respect.

That is a wonderful statement. I fully agree with you. Each and every nationality and culture has it unique values, and must be respected.

If more people respected other cultures and beliefs, I´m sure that there would be less wars in spite of the greediness of the people who have the power.

Well, my travel time started when i changed my job. Because of work as sales, i have many business trip, each time i could combine it with my private travelling, for sure not at the expense of the company. But i am so appreciated that i could have the time to visit different cities in my country. as you know China is a huge country. What i learn from the travelling is really the different experience and different local custom. I like the way to plan for a trip and take my camera with me to a complete new city. Just open my eyes wide and experience something unknown.

I went to South Africa in January this year. I learned that all people living in a poor townships are friendly and just unfortunate to be living in severe poverty. I was happy to see that an Irish charity is working to help the poor people by building low cost but decent homes for them. In Samoa I learned about the local culture. I was lucky enough to meet a village chief. It was amazing to be able to stay in traditional buildings called fales. I went to Robert Louis Stevenson's house when I was there. Like in any museum I learned a great deal. In Kenya I met the Masai Mara tribe. I learned about the native wildlife and the landscapes that I visited. I noticed that the local people were happy with the small amount they have in life. Rich people in developed countries are nowhere near as content or happy it seems. In New Zealand I had geography lessons from Mother nature. I did a long distance walk that involved camping and crossing rivers. I had to wait until low tide to cross the rivers. Three German guys arrived at one river at high tide. Many sand flies were biting. They made a raft for their backpacks and they swam across! I have learned safety is important. I declined traveling on a dangerous vessel in Indonesia. I have to use my judgment of what is sensible to do. It was over crowded and sinking looked really likely. I really love traveling my friend Green Line. My trip around the world developed my patience. It was ideal for I became a primary school teacher.

Hi greenline, I haven't travelled recently but used to try to go to a foreign country each year, I love the opportunity to see different lifestyles and taste different foods and meet people from different cultures. I have been to many European countries. I was lucky enough to find a country I thought I would like to live in, even though the language was different. It offered proud but friendly people, a beautiful environment and a more relaxed way of life. It is also generally a safe place to live and fantastic for bringing up a child. So now I live here and the travel bug is dormant for the while as there are so many things I want to see here.

I haven't travelled in ten years due to my financial situation. I used to travel a lot when my parents were living. After daddy passed away, I travelled with tour groups a lot. I like meeting people from other lands and cultures, too. It's also nice to just get away for a while. I also think travel is very interesting and educational. Kathy.
