I'm getting out of here.

It's 105 degrees outside right now, at 7pm. I would now like to move. Okay, who likes pets and doesn't mind country music? Anyway...if you were to move, what would the reason be? I'm not moving, but if there were a reason for me to move from my state to another, right now I'd point the finger at the heat. Boy do I feel for the people in Arizona.

When I was growing up, it seemed like the air conditioner would quit always when it got to August. Three years in a row! So we left the windows open once, went to church, came back...and weren't we lucky. There had been a dust storm and our home reflected that.

I moved from Maryland to Florida five years ago for a couple of reasons. The first was because my husband wanted to be able to spend time with his family...especially his brothers...following his heart surgery and his younger brother's cancer diagnosis. The second reason was the more relaxed pace of life down here and the third was the weather. Oh how I hated winter!! It gets hot here during the summer...not as hot as where you are...but you can't beat winter in south Florida!

well i like our house but i want to move because we have way too many stairs in it. we live in a 5 level condo (townhouse) and because of my constant knee pain and the wear and tear on my knees by going up and down the stairs, it is just getting too hard to handle.

Well I am in the great lakes area, one reason to move would be to get away from the snow. And the tornadoes. But where would you go that there is not something that you would have to put up with. It is either heat, earthquakes, tornados, or hurricanes, so we pick the least horrible situation, and what would that be. I will take the heat any day over torndoes and hurricanes as I have lost homes to both.

Yes, the lack of warning for a tornado scares me. And there aren't a lot of homes with cellars or basements anymore. You know, the new ones that have been built in the lat 40 or so years. And living in an apartment, I don't have a lot of confidence with where I live that there is a lot of protection.

Well I lost my home to Ivan in 2004 and was just getting set up again when Katrina came through and lost it all again. I was in the 1974 tornado F-5 in Xenia, Ohio so I have been in both. At least you have days to leave before the hurricane get there, with a tornado there is no warning. So will take hurricane over tornadoes any day. Both are bad.

CAN'T say as i'd blame u w.that temp. It is hot here but not that bad. I love pets & country music. I don't intend to ever move from right where i am no matter how hot or cold it gets. I love Tennessee, was born here & plan on dying here.

Oh man I love Tennessee. I almost went to college there. My mom spent several years in Tennesse when she was growing up. Tennesse and Colorado are the most beautiful states I've ever been to. And I've been to 32 of them, so I sort of know what I'm talking about. lol

If you had asked that question a month ago, I'd say I'd want to move TO Arizona, just to get away from all the rain we've had since just before Spring began. I lost my first garden planting because of all the rain. It killed my tomato plants, my potato plants, plus everything else I planted. I was so depressed I didn't want to try again. But, I did and I'm glad I did. The rains have slowed down a bit and everything is growing very well right now.
We moved to Virginia from Maryland two years ago for a number of reasons. The first reason was the cost of living. Maryland is one of the highest on the east coast. It's so much cheaper to live in Virginia. The second was the snobbish attitude of the majority of people in Maryland. The more money people have, the higher in the air their noses seem to be and Maryland has a LOT of wealthy people. The third reason was the slower pace in Virginia as compared with Maryland. The majority of drivers in Maryland didn't seem to realize that they had speed limits, a brake pedal or a turn signal. Here in Virginia, it's the exception.
The weather is pretty much the same, except storms are a bit worse here because we're in the mountains. But, we bought a nice house with 3 1/2 acres of land for half as much as it would have cost us in Maryland. That was the main reason for moving. I've always wanted enough land to grow fruit and nut trees, berry bushes and have a huge veggie garden. I never had that until we moved here.
I don't think the temperature has reached 100 degrees since we've lived here, although our first year here was pretty hot and dry. This year, I think it has only gone above 90 once this season. You should move to Virginia!
Where do you live? I'd just like to know in order to avoid it, at least in the summertime. LOL

I live in Oklahoma, but you'd like it if it weren't for the heat. Oklahoma has some of the nicest people you've ever met. Even most of the rich people are nice. The red dirt is plentiful, as are the tornadoes, but the people can't be beat. : )

Oh man. I'm a Christian and a pastor's daughter, and I hate it when people picket concerts or get togethers like that. Someone is going to hell because they heard the Rolling Stones in concert? Puh-lease! I mean, you want to picket someone? Go picket a Chris Brown concert or something. Not like that would help. Or even be a good idea.

Oh, cool! I was in Oklahoma City once. It was in January so heat wasn't an issue, although it was unseasonably warm for January. I believe it got up to 70 degrees the day I was there.
I had won a contest to meet the Rolling Stones, also front row seats. I was supposed to see them at FedEx Field in D.C., but someone screwed up with the tickets, so they flew us out to Oklahoma.
I really didn't get much of a chance to see much while I was there but I did notice how nice everyone was, well, except for the Bible thumpers who showed up outside the stadium (Ford? can't remember) and began screaming about the evils of rock and roll music and we were all doomed to Hell because we were going to see the Rolling Stones.
Everyone else was exceptionally nice! But, since we moved here to the mountains of Virginia two years ago, we've had three tornado warnings and one even ripped through the town near our house. I don't think I'll ever get used to tornado warnings!

Yeah, I know the feeling. I remember going swimming on Christmas day when I was 7 years old and thought it was awesome since I never was able to do that before cause we lived in places with lots of snow in the colder months. My mom moved back form New Mexico a few years ago and when we visited her there was triple digit weather. Now that was a hot year. I live in a trailer and if we don't have our small air conditioner on huffing and puffing trying to cool the kitchen and living room then it can be a scorcher in here.

When I was twenty, I lived in a very small trailer by myself. I had no air conditioning that entire summer. All I could do in that horrid thing was to lie down with a wet towel on my face. I just couldn't afford to get it fixed. It was a tiny fifth wheel.

I usually use a misting bottle and a wet towel and often freeze gallon jugs to set behind the fan to help cool it a few degrees..

Personally I cannot imagine living in areas where it gets really Warm during the Summer. Especially areas that have the HIGH humidity as well. I Love living where I do now, and even though for other reasons I have considered wanting to move away from here, I would not trade most of our Summer days for anything. It might be in the 80s the next couple of days but we have a Ceiling fan, etc. so I can handle it. Plus I work in an air conditioned building at work so that is a Plus too as well.

Wow! I've been freezing my butt off in New York! I am back home and it's beautiful here....if I were to move that would be a toughy. Since my daughters live in two different states that would probably be a destination....both of them want me to move by them....other then that....my dream has always been to live by a lake...I wouldn't mind getting snowed in in the winter...and in the summer it would be a perfect place to be!

Hi Ambie! Are you serious? It's 105 degrees? Wow! You poor
girl! Come on over and you can bring your pets! Luna and Star
won't mind! It's only 73 degrees here! It has been so strangely
cool for this time of year and believe me I'm not going to
dare complain! We honestly haven't had summer temps for awhile
now! We've had an unbelieveable amount of rain and storms,
but it has been rather cool! I think it was in the 60's last
night and that certainly isn't normal for July in NY! So
pack your stuff and come on over!

I would move because of the cost of living. Where we are it isn't too bad but I'd like it to be better. We are in a 3 bedroom duplex, with an unusable basement and an attic. Two stories with a very small shared yard. No driveway. On street parking in a not so good neighborhood. Paying $850.00 a month NOT including utilities. It does include a $25.00 pet fee for our cat though.

You know, I wish you the absolute best. You've been through so much, and in the short time I've known you, things have been so tough for you guys.
I had to pay a $500 pet deposit when I first moved in. They let me pay it out over 3 months. But a pet deposit every month would certainly add up to over that after awhile!

It is riding that 100 mark here too. I do not want to leave the state but I am considering which part of it, I would rather be in. I am contemplating factors right now.

Hello,
Are you from Arizona? well, im from California and it is not too bad as what you just said, but it is totally hot... Yes, I mean HOT. I have my AC ON and fans but it still not enough.
These days are so hot, and where I work? god!!! hotter than before....
If I want to move, I would love to go to Hawaii and the weather is not too cold and is not too hot and plus... beautiful beach. My reason to move is I hate people here and traffic.

hi ambiepam, its miserably hot right here in sunny so.californis, if I were to move now it wou ld be heavenly aS my son would have gotten a job and accumulated enough money to rent us another apartment, then I could move wherever he wanted and be home again. here in gold crest they are kindenough but its not family, not a real home to me, its safe, its a roof and three meals a day p lus bedtime snack but I miss my own home. losing his job threw us out into the street, and the english lady who was so gung ho on helping us changed her mind at the very last moment. we were left homeless and nearly broke. where are you Ambie, sounds like Phoenix or Tucson. love hatley here. good lu ck and God Bless.

The nosy, insensitive neighbors would be the major reason. Although the move is inevitable since we are only renting right now and would of course be moving to a house we could call our own, I like to point fingers and my neighbors would be at the end of those pointing fingers as the reason why we have to move.

Heat would be right up there with me too. I have a girlfriend living in Burlington VT, and she keeps letting me know how nice the weather is up there. 75 to 80 during the day, 55 to 60 at night. Perfect weather. That's ok though. When she has 3 feet of snow in the winter, and it's -10 degrees, I can let her know that it's dry and 40 here. payback is sweet...I just wish it would get here sooner!! Is it hotter here than normal, or is it just me? BTW, how are you feeling? Better I hope, and hope your surgery was successful!
