Situations that make us feel old!!

Hi, I have just been looking in the mirror, whilst cleaning it!! And was disappointed to see my first grey hair!!! I'm only 29!! I don't think I'm old in the slightest but this did make me feel old! My hair is due to be cut so I guess I'll have to pick a colour to dye it from now on. I'm really amazed how old this made me feel, I hear people say all the time they are going grey and it makes them feel old but I always made light of it until now!! Does this makes us feel old because society places such a pressure on looking good & being young?? Has anything made you feel beyond your years? Whether it be grey hairs or anything else?? Thanks for reading Mrsl x x

hello, i think gray hair is sometimes because of too much thinking... i am only 28 and i also saw a white hair once but i don't mind it, i just pull it out and now i don't see anything of it... but you know, sometimes some lines are making me feel that i am getting old...but i don't mind it again, as long as i feel inside me that i am still beautiful! huh! hehehe don't worry about it too much coz if you do you will look old!hehehe we can always be look good and young when we are happy and smiling person! just feel young and beautiful and it will reflects in your face! don't always frown, don't think bad, don't think to much, avoid stress...those will make us older than our age!

Avoid stress!!!! In my house, never!! Thats how I got the hair, I think!! I have 2 girls 10 years between them, a dog who is all me & a husband, so in my house I am rarely left alone!! I have pulled the hair out so hopefully I'll be as lucky as you & not get anymore for a while!!!

The firsgt time I saw a grey hair I cryied because I did not want to be old. My husband at the times made it worst because he was 9 years older than me and he told me see I don't have any grays and you do and he laughed. But I was 20 when I saw my first and only gray hair I just took it off and it never came back so far I don't think I have any gray hair. My daughter makes me feel old she is 11 and she thinks she can rule the world and talks about boys, boys boys all the time and she want to wear makeup but I don't let her execp mascara. I am almost 27 and there are times that I feel like 40 or more since most of the time I don't go out and I don't take care of my self by duing my hair and dresing nice and that also makes me feel old.

I hope my grey hair doesn't come back!! I also have an 11 year old daugther although she is obsessed with clothes & labels not boys (Yet)!!!! I must admit that I do not make time to do my hair or wear the latest fashions, I'm normally found in jeans, trainers, hoodie and my hair tied back!!! And no make up!! You & I should make time for ourselves maybe then we would remember that we aren't that old at all!!!! Thanks x

LOL!! My daughter likes it when we get dressed up as she is always after my old clothes, which are alot smaller than the size I wear now and she is tall & thin for an 11 year old!! You have to make time for yourself now, I'll check back with at some point & see if you have xx

You are right we should make some time. Actually if I ever try to look nice even if I stay at home my daughter will keep asking me "why are getting all nice", "are you going out" so you might have an idea of how often I put on make up or do my hair. I also were my hair in a pnytail or a bun I were blue jeans almost every day of the week and I use plain t-shirts and sandels and that is what I wear most of the times.

Hello Mrsl, I am 24 and I had my first grey hair about 10 years ago. It was an abnormal case and now about 30% of my hair is grey.I do not let it affect my spirits, though. I am undergoing treatment and I hope things will be all right. Apart from that, I don't worry at all about what will happen and all. Society does place a pressure on looking good but being good is more important. Cheers!

In think the situation which makes me old is to marry unemployed man and have many children to feed. I would really make me sad and miserable. to think that I have to work as especially if husband is lazy and I have to all the work. I have to cook for my children and lazy husband and i am still the one to cook in the morning, noon and evening.

Money problems make you look older in the most fastest way. Don't think too much, according to them thinking about certain things may cause a brain cancer. Always be happy and laugh on every problem that come our way. Live life to the fullest.

If you feel old at 28 with a 6yr old there is no hope for me with an 11 years old at 29!!! Enjoy her, thats the best way to feel young. I share a much better relationship with her than I did with my mother. Have fun Mrsl x x

Im still young but sometimes I also feel the way you feel right now. It is normal to get us old. But to make you stay feel younger, eat healthy foods, and enjoy your life. Always feel happy everyday and appreciate the things surrounds you. Most of all feel love.

You raise a good point about appreciating the things around us as many of us take them for granted!! My husband & I are usually juggling work, the kids, house, cars, dog & the eldest daughters dancing commitments!!(This is why I have grey hair, especially from my youngest) Fairly hectic & sometimes because of how bus we are we forget to be thankful x Mrsl x x

LOL!!!!!!! I am in love with my husband!!! Although you have hit the nail on the head with the pressure thing. Pressure at home, at work & everywhere I turn. I have an older brother with mental health issues and he relies on me as he & my mother don't get along. As mentioned, I have the 2 girls, 11 & 1, a dog, the house to run, sort pretty much everything with a full time career which is demanding and can be long hours!! Perhaps I need to find a sport (which I don't have time for) that releases all my stress' Thanks Mrsl x x

Hey mrsl, maybe it runs in your family. I heard that having grey/white hair runs in their genes. I haven't felt old because of my petite and small figure and yet i'm 20 years old! ha ha..Just enjoy life, that's just a hair. Ü

How I remember being 20, a very slim toned figure despite having 1 child & always out socially whether it be with friends or family!!! 20 is still so young, so enjoy yourself to the full, you only regret what you never did!!! Mrsl x x

Hi mrsl2008, what an excellent discussion choice. I think that society's pressures and the normal pressures and stresses of life can have a big tole on our physical and mental body. If you are mentally frustrated, stressed, angry, hostile, or depressed, these mental states will reflect in your body. But remember that you are a being, a soul, in a body. I always here people say that they feel physically old but mentally, they can sense that their being is the same. Just evolved over time. Eventually when we get "old" old, if you know what I mean, there is no stoping aging, just slowing it down. The best thing one can possibly do to prevent aging on the body is to stay fit, exercise, be optimistic, think happily, live in the present moment and you will find it ever hard to fail. Keep as much stress and negativity out of your life as possible. Smile on the inside and you will reflect the natural beauty within, always.

Hi Takkakazz Thanks for the insightful post & compliment!!! I don't get time to stay fit at the minute despite having a demanding physical job as there's always something to juggle or do. When our youngest is off to nursery/playschool I'll reinstate my gym membership!! But for now a walk with the dog will have to do x Mrsl x x

Hi, Yes I have felt in many situations that I have become old. Exactly as you said I too felt very bad when I saw my first grey hair that I have become old, but actually greying of the hair does not mean that one has become old, it may be due to hereditary also moreover a grey hair generally is said to be a sign of wisdom. No doubt it is an embaressing situation in social when we see some people who are really older than but still look young. So far nothing has made me beyond my years also but there is nothing to worry every man or woman goes through this phase whether they accept it or not.

I started dying my hair at about 19, and at about 21 when my roots were starting to show one day, I found that I had tonnes and tonnes of grey hair. Then, on my 24th birthday, I spent the morning heading down to the mall to buy wrinkle cream. It's all in how old you feel, I figure.

I find it hard to believe you need wrinkle cream at 24!!!! The general feeling is how you feel & not your actual age!! Mrsl x x

When I find myself have no more interest in animations, I feel I'm old; When I feel sleepy and have to go to bed before 12:00pm, I feel I'm old; When I mock at young people's precipitance, I feel I'm old; When I ... And now I find, life is difficult but still beautiful. We should cherish every minute, enjoy every second, and always keep a young heart.

I'm 24 and I've been noticing grey hairs for the last year or so. I don't think I have enough yet for other people to notice, but I know they're there. I kind of like it though. It makes me feel like I've survived something, to be here and starting to get old. I guess that's cheesy, but it's true. I'm excited to be old.
