Obama Making It Required To Get Health Insurance

A couple weeks ago I read a news article about how Obama is attempting to get it to where if you don’t have health insurance he is going to sue you.
At first I thought well this will get more people to get health insurance but what about the people that can’t afford health insurance already? Most of the time those are the people who this bill will really affect and if they can’t afford health insurance now how are they going to afford fines etc.
Plus is this going to make health insurance premiums go up? If health insurances know that everyone is going to be needing to get insurance is this the loop hole they need to start a monopoly kind of like most doctors have? Doctors make people call crazy costs for small visits and what not because they know people need to see a doctor so if people need health insurance what is stopping them from raising prices even if its $50 or so a year. It’s going to cause a massive increase of income for them.
So what do you all think? Is it a good idea? In theory even if it is – will the consequences outweigh the good?

A fine is not the same as a law suit. Medicare also has issued fines. The person has a certain amount of time to choose what type of coverage they want. I haven'tlooked to much up on medicare because I hated working on insurance. But still a fine is not a law suit

Sorry - but that was just a mix up of words.
Yes the two are the same, but either way the same outcome is going to happen - people having to pay money for not having insurance when I'm pretty sure most of the people are people who can't afford health insurance because of the unemployment rates and the rise of costs for everything else.
But for things like medicare and what not I know its not easy to get and even if you do get told that you are qualified for it, its a ton of work to get it done. I know this because of what my family has gone through. Its a ton of headache.

Did he not agree to it?
Does it not say a $1000 fine and its mandatory?
So what did I say that was false? I was talking about an article I have read and there you go read it yourself.

I'm not sure if he is the only that necessarily came up with the bill and what not but there is word that he wants it to be put into place. And from what I remember reading it wasn't a small fine either. We're talking about more than $1000.

People cannot afford all that. There would be too many people who cannot afford the insurance or the fines. We are talking about a mass amount of people. If they could afford it, they would already have it.

I do not understand how Obama can sue anyone for not having health insurance. The cost of health insurance is out the roof. I have noticed that I pay one price for my doctors visit with insurance than someone does that doesn't have insureance. It dosn't seem right that I should be charges $150 a visit because I have insurance and someone without is charged only $50. I am glad that low income people get a break but why should I have to pay for it. My husband and I pay over a thousand dollors a month for health insurance that covers nothing. I have a 3500 deductable. That is right I have to pay $3500 before the insurance company pays anything. So, what is the good of having insurance?
Insurance companies may put their prices up but believe me they do not really need an excuse to do so. They will put up the premiums just because they can. The Government is so worried about people having insurance they should get the insurance companies to lover their premiums as well as get the doctors and hospitals to lower their fees as well. It is a shame that this world is so money hungry that no one cares about people.
I say that no matter how many people complain the government will do what it wants no matter what. I am sorry to say that in my opinion government has out lived it's usefulness.

His plan will never work. The health care system in the US is one of the worst n the world despite being one of the most affluent countries. It needs a total overhaul. Greed regulates the healthcare industry here. They need to look at how other countries are taking care of there people and use their systems as examples.

Since you believe a new system is going to be need to be set in place for anything good to come to our health care system - which I completely agree with you about - I was wondering what type of system do you think would be the best?
For me I understand the consequences of a universal health care system and how it might add to taxes but I think it would be the best thing possible and that even if taxes went up I don't think it would be as much of the premiums some people are paying.
