Is your cat sweet or manipulative?

I was reading an interesting article about how
cats control humans.
They use a special type of purr cry that resembles
a baby's cry for food that inspires a nurturing
instinct in humans.
Here's the link to the article on AOL news.

I'm not surprised to hear that cats know how to
manipulate humans to do their bidding.
When my daughter was born, she cried a lot.
And, pretty soon, my big cat, Big Man picked up
her cry and started sounding a lot like a baby.
He had a cute little baby cry sound that would
make me wake up out of a dead sleep.
He'd get right up by my face and cry like a baby.
It was kind of funny hearing that tiny baby sound
coming out of a gigantic fifteen pound cat.
He's a sweet heart. All my cats have
been sweethearts.
But they do know how to motivate me.
Those cats can be very crafty little people!
How does your cat motivate you?

I have 2 cats, and they both can manipulate me when they see fit. Especially if it involves food. They don't have cries like a baby, thank goodness. They manipulate in other ways, like running in front of me so I'll trip over the food dish and see that it's empty. But they are also cuddly creatures. When I have a bad day, they lay beside me and purr. :- )

Manipulative! It'll be nuzzling me and purring and being all cute and then when I'm at my point of most vulnerability she'll steal a piece of chicken out of my sandwhich! Haha my cat is really sweet if I'm sad she'll somehow know and come cuddle with me on my bed but when food is a factor she always seem to get a bit of it without me knowing. :)

Actually Morgana is a little of both. When she wants something she will come and pat my leg, if I get her what she wants it's all good. If I don't she will resort to biting my legs till I get it. She also likes to throw herself in front of your feet just to make walking more challenging. Her favorite though is parking her fuzzy butt right behind your feet while your cooking and then watching you just about break your legs trying to get around. She also loves to wait till I'm sitting down to go potty then she'll hop in my lap, wanting to be held. That's fine till she decides to curl up and take a nap, then I either have to put her down and get bit to get up or sit there for hours while she naps.

She sounds like a handful!
And, ironically my cats do all that too.
Interesting how cats share the same traits
over so many miles.
Guess it's a cat thing.
My big cats don't bite.
The kitten is the biter.
She has been in the house for two days
and just today picked up the nipping habit.
I'm hoping she will grow out of that.
It's just playing though.

my cats are both.if they really want something, they'll suck up to me as if i didn't know.my tux has been attempting to scam another can out of me tonight with the "i'm a cute kitten" act.when it didn't work,he tried my brother.
when he pulls out the head rubbies,he's definetly being manipulative, because otherwise he won't just purr up against you.
that being said..it usually works

I don't know that our cat has made that cry meow before, but I think she has. Usually though when she wants something, she looks at you with these "pay attention to me" eyes and then just meows, when it's for food she's usually sitting in her normal spot on the bar where her food gets put, or on the floor near it.
She also doesn't meow much when she wants to be put up on the bar, but when you put her up she meows as if she didn't want to be put up there! She doesn't get down, so we know she wants up there.
Very Crafty Cat!

WOW! What a great topic! My cats are the most devious creatures. I think they take after moi! They even gang up on me with those cute pitiful little cries. I mean they can sound so pitiful it's not even funny. If that doesn't work, they paw at my face to wake me up. I must say, they've kept me from being late to work a few times by doing this so I can't fuss too much. If all else fails, they chase each other through the house til something gets knocked over.

My cats are constantly doing that.
They chase each other around and end up
running over me while I'm sleeping.
Then I'm not a happy camper!

Just recently my EB female cat passed and now I miss
her like crazy. I cried for a week.
She was my constant companion
and lap warmer. She demanded to sit on my lap
24/7, while I was typing.
And, often she slept on my bed.
I was so happy that I had been able to spend
so much time with her. She was only ten years old,
but we spent so much time together, it felt like
twenty years.
I can't bring her back,
but I do still have those amazing memories.

Cats are very smart and they are very much capable of manipulating their owners. I think this is much more so for cats than it is dogs. Cats are also very independent. If they are snuggling up to you it is for a reason. They want something. I had to give my last cat away. She was causing my allergies to be terrible. She did go to a good home though. I get to see her every once in a while. She is almost a year old now and she gets what she wants. The new owners love her and treat her like she is a kid. (They love all of their pets.)

Yes I can say that cat is very manipulative. I had a cat once that though he is a dog. He used to go around the neighbour hood chasing dogs and bring back socks, shoes and also goes into my neihgbours canary cage to catch a bird. He is not very successful in that. He was good in waking all of us up in the morning. We didn't need an alarm clock at all. He would go around to the rooms, bit our toes until we wake up. It was pretty annoying. The cat we had, He didn't really like being ruffle up that much, if you did that he would bit a whole in your t- shirts to make his point. He is such a sweetheart. I had always thought that he might have been a dog in his afterlife.

I do have to agree that cats can be very manipulative and they will do certain things just to get what they waant. My cat is a definite sweatheart in her own way but she can manipulate you when she truely wants something. My cat she wakes my husband and I up every morning and she'll purr right in ur ear. Because first of all she wants to be petted and then she wants u to wake up so u can get her dinner. That's her only manipulation there. So I do agree that cats do things to manipulate their owners.

Absolutly, Cats totally contol their Humans. My cat is quite sweet sometimes, but mostly very manipulative. If he doesn't get what he wants, he will meow till my Ears drop..and if that doesn't do the trick, he bites me. xD

My cat also has a really weird high pitched
scream that he uses and it's very annoying and
gets him kicked out of the bedroom.
So most times he uses the baby cry on me.
What mom could resist that?

I have a single cat which I found in the wild when it could barely see so I adopted it. Man, that cat is EXTREMELY manipulative. This cat is normally independant, but when it wants food or attention this cat will let you know. In the mornings, my cat jumps up on my mom's bed and wakes her up until she gives him food. When my cat wants loving, he will start rubbing against me and start purring. This cat knows how to get what he wants when he wants.

manipulative
always cries for food even when i had just fed him. acts like hes starving all the time. he can talk when i ask him questions but i know hes just asking for food again, so i exploit him and get a conversation outta it. highly entertaining.

Oh yeah...I have two cats and they are sweet and manipulative. I mean...I get all buttered up. My cat, Lucky, will head butt me right in the face and make these incredibly cute noises. Chester simply stretches out in this super cute way that makes a grown man's heart melt and he's a 12 pound cat!! lol

my cat is sweet. but i like to joke around that he is a manipulative devil, very sneaky and sly at times to get his way. but when he wants his food, he comes to me, and acts sweet and proper. if i dont get up, he gets aggressive and mad, trying to get my attention. tapping me, biting me, and jumping on me. i should have named him Lucifer.
in a way, he acts like a furry little pimp.
