Give up or never give up

Do you believe that you should never give up on someone that you can't go a day without thinking about even if they have done you very wrong in the past but say they are going to change now?

I believe in giving others a second chance - but no more than that. Do it the third time, and it's over. We're not talking about hoping that a coma patient would wake up; it's about having a long term relationship. If a person promises to change but procrastinates on that, he deserves a second chance. However if that person blows that chance, then it's goodbye. You could safely conclude that a tiger never changes its stripes... until something bad happens to one of you. Then it would be too late to change.
