What Hole Do These Idiots Crawl Out From?

As many of my friends know, I do a lot of writing of articles for Associated Content. I often receive great comments/compliments about my work from fellow AC writers and non-AC members as well.
But then every once in awhile I get rather obnoxious comments from some cretin who is not an AC-member and no doubt just wants to make trouble. I just recently got very weird, obnoxious, negative comments from supposedly two different people about an article I did as a tribute to The Beatles.
Then some months ago, I got a real nasty comment for one of my well-researched medical type articles that in effect said..."This is the worst written piece of crap I've ever read. A six year old could write better. Maybe you should go back to school and learn how to write. I was completely nauseated reading this article--how dare you call yourself a writer."
Where do these cretins come from? What rock or hole did they crawl out from? I've only noticed such crappy comments the past few months on some of my AC articles. Why do such azzholes have to make such comments anyway? Am I being trolled there??? Is it my stalker?
Okay...any of you who write for AC (or any other site that one can have comments left)....do you get oddball, caustic, nasty, obnoxious comments left on your articles? I just delete the comments....but I would love to somehow track down these idiots

Sounds very much like it could be your stalker. Do they have any way of reporting people over there? If it gets really obnoxious, there are govt. agencies you can report online stalkers to also. They could track down if it's all the same idiot. I just wonder what priority they would put on it.

I have to look better over at AC to see if there is a way to report negative comments...and he just came back to make another "remark" and told me not to delete his comments to me...how cheeky

Hi pye,
OMG!! how nasty can they get, it may well be your stalker/troll followed you there, they shouldn't allowed to be down right rude like that, you have been a writer for a long time and I don't think they know what you are writing about but like to make those nasty coments.
Bright Blessings.

I don't know where they come from. I don't usually get random nasty comments. Although on one sight someone rated an article of mine really low, no doubt so theirs would do better as the exact same article is rated highly on other sites.
And then this one time I had a guy blast me because I wrote an article about paperbackswap and other trading sites and in it I put something about having a hard time getting books at my small town library, which by the way had no science fiction or fantasy in it, and they certainly didn't tell a teenager about inter-library loan even if it existed there and then--thats been a few years ago, and he thought that I was doing the library a discredit. All I was suggesting is if like me you had a hard time getting books from the library trading books was an alternative to buying them and here were some good sites. The article was supposed to be a review of the different trading sites, it wasn't at all about options in library borrowing. It did, however, spark quite a discussion.
Perhaps these people are at war with the world and looking for someone to take it out on. I wouldn't put too much stock in it. You write lovely articles.

Yup--I think a lot of people who have nothing better to do in their lives love to make nasty or negative comments all over internet land----I get frazzled looking at the nasty comments people make for instance at Youtube videos...and the language used!
I know for a fact how hard it is to get books at libraries at times even though they do have an inter-library loan thing...not all books are listed with the libraries near me either..so the only other alternative...yup to either buy real cheap at amazon.com or those swapping sites--in fact I just bought a book via Amazon.com dirt cheap...was never at any of my libraries...all about "Ghost Cats" (kind of appropriate for me, no?)

no matter what profession you're in,there's always jerks like that.
you should see some of the crap i've seen go on between rival guitarists online(and offline, come to think of it).
they just think somehow they're so very important and so is their opinion.

Sometimes, people who have nothing else to do, surf sites and leave comments that are really annoying.
We call them the internet bullies.
You don't need to be angry or upset with them because that is what they really do, just like with any other bullying, studies prove that it is their personality.
When they you write like this or like that, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's true. It's still up to you if you wannna get affected or not.
Just take it as a constructive criticism.

The problem is that (at least in my experience) you can not crave anything constructive out of the comments of people like this. The comments are just full of venom.

Havent had any idiots on here yet or anywhere else online, but it is bond to happen sometime.. I think these types of people have nothing better to do but sit there and tell you exactly what you are doing is wrong and/or stupid.. Not sure if this would be the way to handle it or not.. but if you could track down those idiots; ask them; ok since your mr. know it all, prove it!! and if they can not come up with anything at all then just ignore them, their the idiots, they cant do any better... why waste your time on them?

I really wish I could track these idiots down over there...but they aren't AC member users, just "outsiders" who can leave comments and they come up with different names since I keep "blocking" them...but know it's the same person

Have you talked to anyone on that site about this? There is a way that they can block that ISP from being able to comment on your sites.. Not sure if that would work or not but that is an idea.. or block their IP address

I'm trying to find the "spot" where one can report obnoxious people at AC---haven't found it yet...LOL. Blocking ISP addresses wouldn't do...there are sad to say a number of obnoxious trolls here at mylot that wreck havoc all the time and so far MyLot hasn't been able to block them from coming back--so I would imagine the same would hold true at AC

I write for AC and Helium but fortunately I have not received any nasty comments such as that yet on any of my articles. I haven't really written that much for either site yet and actually I am just submitting the same articles to both sites at this time. I have received a couple of emails from Helium from members who wanted to comment but those were all nice comments. I have not received any comments, good or bad, on AC site. Whoever commented on your articles is obviously a nasty, mean, empty person who probably don't even like themselves very much!

I have never written for the AC but I can tell you from personal experience, that there are some "winners" out there. I had a class in high school that let us write about various subjects, kinda like journalism, using our knowledge, sources, and opinions but they had to be done in a tasteful way. At one point we were allowed to publish things like this on the internet, for another class. Someone hacked into the system and trashed a paper that I had written for class. It was about President Lincoln (my fav pres.). This person commented that I was a ret*rd because I thought that he was still alive, and yada, yada, yada. Now, I am not stupid. I am very intelligent and have my blond moments but this day when that came in, I was just mortified. Needless to say, I am not a writer anymore. We did find out that it was an upper classman that had a limited vocabulary and he was also kicked out of class because his writings came out in a "soft-p*rn" sort of way. He got angry and trashed our stories because his weren't being accepted. I just decided that that kind of criticism isn't my thing. Sorry you had to deal with that. I believe we all have to deal with critics, but stupid people are another thing!

I've only written about 15 or so articles and just this week start writing again (yea me!). As I was looking through my old articles I did notice one that had a nasty, stupid comment on it from an anonymous person.
It simply said 'stop talking sh*t'. I don't have a large readership but this particular article is the one I've received the most page views from. It was the article about cheap and easy meals from frozen chicken breas*ts.
Maybe he was doing a search using the keyword that gets labeled as adult here, as was disappointed that it was about chicken? LOL ...
I don't think I have a troll following me, but I'm sure it does happen. Ah, the price of fame.
I don't understand why people would get a kick out of this sort of thing. Makes absolutely no sense to me. They are probably also the people that would kick a dog for no reason, or tie cats tails together. Senseless, stupid and hurtful.

Consider the source of the comments. If they are from fools, they are not worth the energy it takes to read what they have to say. Apparently they are jealous or have no clue. Anyone who is a true critic will give positive corrections, if they truly see something wrong with the article, meant to teach and help the writer. If they are just blastin you, they have no clue.

It's hard when you put so much work into something to make it right and then listen to crap from people like that. I find in anything you do that is public you'll always have a few of these climb from under their rock to bash you. It is sometimes hard to take their ignorant ill informed idiotic opinions. Been there and understand. Ignore them as best you can. I don't really understand why they do this. The time and energy they waste could certainly be put to better use.
If it helps I've read a lot of your posts here on the lot and the comparison to a six year old never crossed my mind. You've written a lot of articles. I would consider you accomplished compared to myself.
Keep the faith and keep on mylotting.

I am sorry to hear that you've encounter some problems from the internet user world. I can feel your pain for we all know that with fame or exposer comes people with objectivity.
We know in this world there is no one entity that is accepted by everyone. And when I use everyone I use it in the content of search individual that has the ability to express their opinions.
You've stated earliar that your article has lots of recognition for its content and I don't doubt it. But you must realize that because you are now experience higher traffic of exposer you'll learn that when someone thinks positive about one issue there is another individual that can find the negative about it.

That is just completely awful and just plain cruel and in my opinion just way to honest for that fact. I have been writing for associated content for some time now and have never received any comments like that. That is a good question though on how to track some of those people down. But wow, I can't believe that there are people out there that waste there time reading articles and then put in such comments as that on your article. Its like they have nothing better to do with their day. I hope you find a way to find out who these people are and put a stop to it and maybe I'll run across your articles sometime and I seriously doubt that they are that bad for anyone to make such a comment as those have done on your articles.

I work on a few different blogs, so far I have been lucky enough that I have just got ignorant comments, nothing to harsh or attacking me exactly! I sure know that it would upset me quite a bit. I have had issues with one person on MyLot, I try to laugh it off because you know that you are clearly doing something right, and they are just blaming you for their own person issues or insecurities, but they definitely should not get away with it! I would report them for their comments! On MyLots I leave it alone and never report things because you are here to discuss and as adults we understand that everyone has their right to disagree so a discussion may turn into a debate, but on articles that is your work, and much more of a personal attack! As well as belittling another person is never okay, nor should it be tollerated! All it does is prove anothers ignorance and lack of facts! If they were intelligent then they would have a rebuttle not respond like my 7 year old niece on the playground! I am very sorry that you must go through this, and I think that it should not be tollerated!

It's not really a stalker, because troll is all over the internet right now (sigh). If someone born to be troll they will search the internet just to causing trouble, infecting forum and writing site, even private site. It's like they're thirsty for others anger. Like dracula smelling blood, trolls could smell anger and when they found the source they will squeeze out their anger to the limit.

Some people just like to cause trouble or just don't know how to disagree with someone without being hateful. Why even let it bother you? Doesn't AC pay based on the number of page views? Just remeber that no matter how many negative comments the post that doesn't change the fact that they read the article and that put money in your pocket.

It depends. If one writes an article and it's never been published elsewhere one can request upfront payment plus will get page views. But yes, in essence the person did add money to me by viewing it..LOL
