The long novels ofcourse can be very addicitve once you make the start and get immersed in the story. I do like and enjoy the long classics. I do like reading them if and when I have the time. But, these days, being too busy with too many things day-to-day, I just would not touch the long novels. I would just go for short stories , read a few pages and relax. How about you ? Do you like reading short stories or long novels ?

It always depends upon the author one has chosen. I have read classics of Leo Tolstoy, Lord of the Rings etc. I never got board even though they were thousands of pages long. But some books such the third part of Inheritance cycle, Brisingr. I lst momentum in the middle. Short stores are much better, but I feel they sometimes leave a strange yearning of pre and Post Scenario of the characters involved.

I have the same feling. It's not that I like long novels over short stories, it only happens that in the short ones it seems something is often missing in the story. It is also true that if the plot gets boring in the long novel I would stop reading it. To all depends on the ability of the writer, in the end. If I have to choose over the two kinds, thought, I'd go for the long one. I like accurate descriptions of characters and long stories, well developed during time.

before i used to love reading novels. but when i majored creative writing and used short fiction for my thesis collection, i got more interested in reading short stories and flash fiction. as a writer, producing a compact story is indeed more challenging to write shorter works. but i mostly read them to get creative insights so i can also improve my writing.

I have not come into touch with reading stories unless it was required by the professor or I was really interested in reading a book that I was willing to sacrifice time to read it. I was really busy these past few days. Shorts stories are cool but novels are the coolest. However, I was so interested with the book "Time Traveler's Wife" that I finished the 500+ page novel in two days. I stock up with books so that if I felt like reading, I could grab one and read.

I really like reading long novels myself as I like to be given the time to get to know characters, which I don't really feel able to do in short stories. I also like being in the middle of a really good novel and knowing that I can enjoy it for hours to come. The downside to this of course is that when it ends, you can feel quite sad, as it's all over!

I don't read short stories. I love long and thick novels especially if the author is my favorite Stephen King. I collect all his books.

On the whole I love reading.I like short stories more as the suspense is over fast. When I read a book I need to spend alot of time as I want to finish it off fast.I do not like to keep the end waiting for too long.I love books which are gripping and racy.Reading transports me into a different world altogether. As I read I want to know the ending soon so my preference is short stories.Reading is fun.

I love to read long novels. I can really get into enjoying a novel with a good story. It is interesting to learn about the characters and the themes of the book. I like it if there are a few twists and turns in the story. I like some excitement but not any horror that would really frighten me. I am delighted when a novel is set in a different country and there is great description about the settings. I don't very often read short stories but when short of time think they are great options my friend Greenline.

I Love Both. Reading Books are like eating my favorite dish. for last one and half years i was much busy with my work schedule. so i could not read much books. I just quit my job before 1 month and totally forget of reading my favorite novels. Too bad.. i wil start my routine again from August. Anyway, I bought the book "My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling written by Bret Hart, Former WWF champion. I bought this book during my working days itself and I almost finished the 550 pages. Book reading is one of great habits. peoples dont have this habit, must try to have this habit. because of books, I made policies of my own, standing strong in myself what i believe. It is book which shaped my real life character. they play a big role in my life. Have a nice time, greenline.

i like to read long novels, the life is endless, including details of story, chacrater's discription clear,i read the novels,i pay attention to describe chacrater's mentelity and behaviour and speaking,so i can understand the writer's aim to write this novel.there is important to expess chacrater's fate in the novel,so this can interest me to read it.

If I have a lot of time, I prefer to read long novels, there are more people and it is more attractive and more interesting of long novels than short novels. Sometimes long novels could inspire you a lot. While if I do not have so much time, reading short stories is a good choice. Many of them could bring me a lot of fun.

Nowadays I get a very short time to read... Reading is a good habit. So I prefer keeping it up within me. So I prefer reading magazines, newspapers and short stories. I am too fond of thrillers and detective stories, but I cannot read them because most of them are long novels.

I prefer to read short stories than long novels. I felt tired of having it read longer and the ending is long to wait. I like short one because we are satisfied already after we have read it in a day or how many weeks. I not so fan of reading long stories it makes me lazy.

I like reading the longer novels myself. They usually have more emotion and excitement. A really good and long one is "Shogun" if you have the time. A thousand pages in my version, but an awesome book.
