What kind of a crier are you?

Do you cry when watching a movie or reading a book? Do try to hold yourself back from crying? or do you cry when you have to? when everything is going bad? Do you look at an adult crying and go "ergh.. what a crybaby" or do you sincerely wonder what made that person cry, 'must be something bad'... I had a meltdown last weekend, in public. that's why I'm kinda feeling bad about it. lol. I'm not much of a crier. I try very hard not to cry, but the problem is that I cry very easily. Something upsets me and I'll be struggling to stop the tears. How lame is that... i feel so bad. lol. Btw, I'm a 22 year old university student, female. IF that's normal. lol!

I do cry when there is a scene in a movie that makes me sad. When reading a book, and I find it melodramatic, I can't help but cry. I do not see anything wrong when someone cries. It is a normal reaction and I do not see that someone is a "cry baby" when an adult cries.

Hi. Hmmm... well as for me, I don't cry easily especially from just watching a movie or reading a book lol. I've always been that kind of person that just holds it in when I'm sad or angry, but when I really cannot take the pain and If I'm really upset I just burst into tears. I tend to hold my emotions to myself and I know that's kinda bad on your health. I've had to talk to someone before because I am keeping my emotions inside too much that it's harming me internally.

It is unhealthy. but talking to someone about your private thoughts, later on could sound silly. I guess a good remedy would be pouring it out... either crying in private.. or talking to someone.

I don't usually cry much. My mom actually gets really mad at me for not crying a lot of times. If I do cry, I usually have a hard time to hold it back. But if I'm in public I will try my hardest. Or if I'm in trouble for something and I need to argue, not cry, then I will just bite my lip and go into angry mode instead. If I am at home though generally I don't care, I'll just cry. I never would say anything bad to someone crying in public. Although sometimes I secretly think that really loud criers need to stop their whimpering. But perhaps they do have a good reason. Or maybe they're like my one friend who cries over anything. Once she smashed a spider accidentally and cried for it. Then she ate a hamburger like nothing, I don't get it.

I think I am not so easy to cry. But I do cry when watching a movie or reading a book alone. When there is somebody else who I am not so rely on beside me, I will not cry. I will try my best to hold back my tears.I think when you are crying in front of the public or somebody who you are not very close to, it will expose your weakness.Of course, I'm quite good at keeping my strong side to other people. When I was a high school student, I had the same problem like you.To be honest,I think you need to be much more stronger and don't cry too easier.22 is not very old, but it's not very young too.22 should be a period of progression from adolescence to adulthood. You are still a college student. You still have the right to cry anywhere because people may think you are not mature enough to face the problems or difficulties in your life. But once you begin to work,if you still cry so easier, people may think you are not capacity and strong enough to handle a problem or a difficulty. That's what I learnt in these two years. BTW, I'm a 23 year old office lady, and in one year before, I was a university student, just as you now.

Wow... thanks for that reply. Well I don't cry very often.. I avoid situations that would make me cry. Even in a movie hall, if i start crying, i hide tears every way i can. I know tears are sign of weakness. I'm not saying I cry every other day.. I don't. Hardly. But once every blue moon when i do, it's embarrassing beyond words to me. Thats why i'm trying to figure it out. I don't handle emotions well, i keep swallow it up and keep it all bottled up. But once when i do start crying, all the things that upset me keeps flashing before me... its so bad. The only reason i'm talking about this here is that you guys are complete strangers. and i won't feel uncomforatable later on.

as much as possible, i try holding back my tears in public. but if it's just me and my hubby reading or watching a tear-jerker, i let it all out. when i see somebody crying, i get worried and feel like i should be doing something to ease their pain. but usually i don't know what to do, so i stand there helpless. not a good feeling, i tell you.

i tend to tear up when i am watching a sad or touching movie on tv. i am not much of a crier at other situations but do find that sometimes i will cry a lot over a sad movie but it is usually just a build up of tears from other reasons.

I often cry when I read a book or watch a movie, when I am crying, I do not like others to comfort me, this will make me not comfortable, I would like to find a place which is very quite, and cry for some time myself. I often cry for over than half an hour or more, and my eyes will turn very red.

hello, Yes I do cry while watching a movie or even during a sentimental situation in the family, I also cry when someone abuses me, but try hard not in public. I control my tears as much as I can but sometimes I cannot resist myself. I do cry sometimes when I am very angry also but within myself and not let the tears roll out.

I think I am a sensitive person. When I watches movie or read book,I usually burst into tears. When I am alone,I always don't try to control myself. But I pretended happy and smile when in the public.I sometimes puzzled by the same question with you,I cannot control myself.Crying before a lot of people seems ashamed. But in fact,I think others won't think you are weak or something bad.I am alse a University Student, female~

Hey! I have always worn my heart on my sleeve, so that answers the question ;) I always cry when I read nicholas spark books. The last one I read had a good ending and it was more of happy tears. But I read his book Dear John and I cried the last few chapters. That book hit home for me. And yes when younger was called a crybaby, but I think everyone is used to it by now ;)
