I use Mozilla but see there is an update to 3.5 - any one know how I go about upgrading? Do I have to delte the verision I have and reinstall the new version? Do I loose my bookmarks if I do that? I seem to have some kind of problem in that when I turn my PC on, sometimes Mozilla doesn't install right and wont open, so I have to reboot the PC to get it to start.. so something is wrong anyway. So I figured I'd just update/grade and see if tha helps... any suggestions?

That's what I am worried about and since it is not vital that i do upgrade, and I prefer to wait till bugs are out before I upgrade.. maybeI'll just hold off.

That what happen when I upgrade Mozilla in a new version then that is why I am worried that all that in my bookmarks will be deleted.
If you how to upgrade but not delete bookmarks, please tell me.
What is really going on about new versions. Is there any features that is really better than the 3.1? Please tell me about your experience on the latest 3.5.1 version if it is faster than ever...?

it has never happened to me.. when you delete the earlier version there is an option that asks you whether or not you want ot delete all your firefox settings.. That way it keeps all the settings and bookmarks..

I am absolutely a Firefox user, and I don't think you are going to lose your bookmarks when you reinstall, but it is simple to save your bookmarks file to the desktop or to Spurl or somewhere if they are important to you.
Here is a help page:

You won't have to delete your current version and you won't lose any bookmarks upgrading mozilla firefox. To upgrade go to the help section at the top of mozilla firefox and select check for updates. I have mozilla firefox set to automatically check but it didn't this last time for some reason. As I was writing this I did a check and there is even a newer version already. Version 3.5.1. When my firefox was acting strange I did a bot scan and I found a trojan horse which was causing mozilla firefox to act weird. I use Spybot Search and Destroy as my spy bot checker. It has an immunize feature that prevents known malicious software to enter your computer by recognizing and blocking it. The reason that Spybot S&D didn't block this trojan allowing me to get infected was because I hadn't updated Spybot S&D for a while. I now check for updates every week. Another way to block malicious scripts it to install NoScript. It's an add-on for mozilla firefox.

Hey,
Just visit their website http://mozilla.org and download their latest version and it will automatic update. If it does not, then it will be saved on your computer and just open up the setup and it will automatically update it, you will not need to uninstall and reinstall.

Could it be a Vista problem and not mozilla? I have heard horrible things about the Vista program. I have been having a problem lately with IE freezing up. Granted I have IE and Mozilla going at once sometimes and it could just be to much for my pc to understand or handle at the same time (have no idea, just assuming!) but as far as Mozilla problems...none for me.

Hey there! If you go to their website, you should see an upgrade there. If you're using a very old version of Mozilla, you may need to re-install. If you upgrade, you don't lose your bookmarks. If you re-install, you might lose them. Updating is probably the right thing to do if your browser does that. It could be something else too, maybe a virus or spyware. Try scanning your computer.

I do scans and all that about every other day if not daily. CCleaner daily. I don't know which verision I have.. have been using it regularly about 6 months now. I went to the site when I heard the update was out and it just said "download".. no mention of "update/grade" to that verision if I already had the previous. I was afraid to do that so I didn't know if I'd loose bookmarks and all. I apparently have the update thing on as it always tells me when a new add on has been installed.. don't know what they are or are for, and it doesn't let me stop them.. just tells me when its done.

Hi coffee break,
Install the 3.5 version first. You can download from www.filehippo.com. Since it wouldn't automatically replace the old version, you have to it from add/remove programs.
You will lose all your bookmark. So better you write down everything before you delete your old version.
Good luck and have a nice day.

Yeah, thats where I was going to do it from, but it only gives option to download the new version, not update to the new verision. I don't want to loose my book marks over this...so if I can't just update, and have to add/remove it.. I won't bother now... to much work to do all that. I was just hoping the new version might have something to stop the problem I had with Mozilla not opening when I boot up. Sometimes it does, other time it doesn't and I have to reboot the PC tfor it to work. This has just started recently, 2-3 weeks now.

upgrading is quiet simple, just install the newer version and it will be done, no need to uninstall the previous version, the newer one will take over the older one, you don't loose bookmarks or settings when you directly install the newer one but if you delete the older version then you will loose data, so just install the newer one on the old one directly...
i personally use the old 2 series mozilla coz when the first 3 series upgrade came the browser was really slow on showing images so i am still with the old 2 series, maybe the newer 3 series are doing good!

My reason for updating is because sometimes when I boot up... Mozilla doesn't come up. I have to shut down and re boot for it to work. I thought maybe I lost something in the current version I have (just installed about 6 months aago and use regularly) so I was going to update. I always wait till the bugs are out to upgrade things and if they are working fine anyway,,, I might not upgrade at all (like with IE...I'm still 6.0 cause of all the bugs to the following 2 updates) but I can't figure why Mozilla doesn't install when I turn PC on as it used to all the time. Now it is hit and miss. I do virus and other scans regularly so I don't know.

sont just do that just update directly from the update from the tabs menu
this is better so that you do not need to upgrade
i think thats what you did
it better to do that as you have the older sites and bookmarks you stored out

I will check it out. I went there via filhippo and only got the option to download version 3.5.. not update/grade to it. At least I don't loose bookmarks.. that is SOOOOOO annoying and aggrivating!

Well, if I were you, I'd wait for version 4, which I'm sure is coming out some day. I believe version 3.5 is just a minor improvement. There's no need to upgrade each time a new version is offered. I'm still using version 3.0.11 - I shall stick to it for now. I upgraded once from version 2.5 - it created havoc in my PC. I lost all my bookmarks and the tech support wasn't helpful.
I shall wait for a complete revamp, then i'll upgrade :)

I found 3.5 to be a massive improvement over the previous 3.x releases. Way faster and more stable - though it was discovered there's a serious security hole - so it might be worth waiting until 3.5.1 which will no doubt be released soon to fix that :)
