My brother and his wife have brown eyes, both, but they have 2 doughters with blue eyes. Of course that is very strange, because my mother and his wife mother have green eyes. So, hos his doughter can have blue eyes? Who know to explain this, and in your family do you have situations like this? My mother have green eyes, and my father brown, but i have green eyes like my mother, and my father brown, as my fathed had. so, is normal, we have our parents eyes color. Why his doughter have blue eyes?

Eye color is a recessive gene so you can get a child with blue eyes because someone 12 generations back had blue eyes. It's really that simple. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy mylotting!

Hello, I am glad that you knew the word, because for the life of me when I responded I could not think of the word at all. Happy Mylotting

I believe that lighter colored eyes are a recessive trait. So even if you have dark eyes, you could be a carrier for the recessive trait and your children could inherit that trait. It's more likely that they'd inherit the dominant dark eyed trait, but it's still possible they'd have light eyes.

that's the right answer. (i'm in the middle of studying for a career change and at the moment it's very dull genetics) jb

The answer to your question is: Genetics. You'd have to trace the eye colors back several generations. Brown eyes are dominant, blue eyes are recessive, and we have two genes for eye colors (one from each parent). For this example, we will use B to represent an allele (gene) for Brown eyes, and b will represent an allele for Blue eyes. If both parents have brown eyes, then their genetic makeup can be either BB or Bb. If the baby has blue eyes, then their genetic makeup would both have to be Bb, since both parents would donate the blue eye gene to the child, which would have to have the makeup of bb in order to show blue eyes. Green eyes are usually caused by mutations, and can be transfered through generations. If you have any questions about this, or this doesn't make any sense to you whatsoever, please feel free to ask me. We covered this kind of stuff in my Biology class a while ago, and it was the easiest thing in the world for me, so it's safe to say I have a pretty good understanding of genetics. xD

It could be some part of the family like the grand or grand grand parent or something like this :)

I think it is normal because the little girl can have the other family member's gene. i It happened the same with my cousin. So i think that anything can happen, especially in her case

To have blue eyes you must have two blue eye alleles. It is possible for 2 brown eyed people (both carrying the recessive blue eye allele) to have blue-eyed children. In fact it is not rare. It is also possible for blue eyed alleles to be carried for several generations without having blue eyed people until 2 people with blue eyed alleles marry.

yup, they can... its all possible... genetically if any of your relations have blue or green eyes, it is possible!!!

That's interesting. I thought about it before too, my husband has blue/green eyes and I have black/brown eyes, so I wonder what color of eyes our babies would have in the future, most likely dark brown I guess? I'm very curious to know.

i think the medical doctor is in the best position to handle this but i do believe it might have happened as a result of some genetic issues, i have seen two dark complexion people giving birth to a light complexion baby and i wondered how it happened and so many deffects like that happen without a trace

yes but only if someone in their family had the blue eyes.

Yes, but it is not the most likely outcome. However, the reverse is impossible. Two parents with blue eyes cannot have a baby with brown eyes. That's because a parent with dark eyes may have some genes for dark eyes, and some for light, but the dark one is dominant so we can only see dark eyes. If they pass only the genes for light eyes to their child, the other parent does too, the child can have light eyes.

Yes they can, if both parents have recessive blue eyes, meaning they received one gene for blue eyes from one parent and one gene for brown eyes from the other, brown eyes are dominate over blue eyes. so the parent would have brown eyes, and yet have the gene for blue eyes. The gene for blue eyes can then be passed on to their own child, if the other parent, father has the same situation then he can also pass on the gene for blue eyes, resulting in a child with blue eyes. There is a 25% chance of this occuring.

If you are asking is your brother really is the dad. That I can not say,but I can tell you why they have blue eyes. There are sometimes genes that are not very strong and to stay alive they just pop out every some what generation.

depends on genes. a good way to know the genes that you have is too look back. parents, grandparents, grand-grandparents, uncles, aunts. if the gene is there that there is a chance that your kid might have that color eyes. i don't remember... i think i remember reading that black eyes have dominant genes. not so sure about this.. my aunts, uncles, mom, grandparents all have very light color eyes, green blue hazel. but my dad has black eyes, so do i. darn it. and my sister and brother have green eyes. why???? why me??? i want blue eye or hazel too!!! hahaahah. my siblings tease me about that a lot.

Maybe one of your relatives has blue eyes or something. I have learned that it it a recessive trait and can be passed even when both parents don't have the exact trait.Ü
