a FRIEND OF MONE, GOD LOVE HER ASK ME IF I WANTED SOME CUCUMBERS. Ofcourse i said yes. I thought she meant just to have some to eat. Monday here she came w/a garbage bag full of cucumbers & zuchinni squash. SOOOOOOOOOO tues. i made pickles , two different kinds. I ended up w/24 jars of pickles. The vinegar smell was so strong it even caused my dog to start snezzing & i could hardly get my breath. It really was quite funny to see the both of us.How many of u mylotters have ever made pickles?

I use to assist my mother in making her renown pickles; those are fond memories.
Look on the bright side, at least you'll save on what you would have spent on pickles this year. You've done your bit for the economy. Give a few jars away and make your contribution even bigger by helping out your fellow man.
So wipe away your tears, take the dog out for a walk and share the wealth.

I have never made pickels. It sound like you and your dog had a busy day. 24 jars of pickles, you have enough to share. Did you have any of the them left over? Your friend seem to of had a good crop to harvest if they were grown in her garden. Isn't it nice when people share.

I have made some pickles. One year I made a really tasty zucchini relish. It had little bits of red bell pepper in it and it looked so pretty. You still get lots of work done, and that is terrific.

I have never made pickles before but I have pickled beets and that was wonderful. I love to eat pickled beets and pickles so I would have loved to do that. You got a whole lot there. I think that they make great gifts too. I make jams from fresh wild strawberries and rhubarb from my backyard. Someone gave me wild plums that I jarred too. I have some zucchini in the garden this year and hope to have a few but I doubt that I would get enough to pickle. I like the sweet mixed pickles that also have cauliflower and onions. Once I pickled eggs which was not as good as I thought they would be. LOL

AREN'T u smart, good for you. I to love pickled beets. I mix yellow squash & zucchini together because it makes them very pretty. U don't have to have but 8 cups of squash to make one batch of pickles & u can use bigger zuchini or yellow if they get too big to cook. I just chunk them up so it doesn't take too long to get 8 cups. I have always canned things & put things in the freezer. It's really silly of me i guess since i live alone but i enjoy doing it. IT does make nice gifts. tHANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE .

Oh now that is a very good friend you have there! Yes I have made pickles just recently. I made dill pickles and some bread and butter pickles. They taste good but I have not perfected the crispy pickle yet. Mine are not too soft but I would like for them to be much firmer. It is back to the drawing board for me on that one. Enjoy all of those pickles!

You have my sympathies. I have never tried to make pickles. But recently I was subjected to an overwhelming odor! A couple of days ago I went over to my parent's house. I walked in an I was hit with a horrible aroma of onions! My dog was with me, and he immediately started sneezing. Worse, my dad had had ham the night before, and the place smelled like onions and ham fat. Not just ham, but ham fat. I accidentally touched some liquified ham fat on the stove and almost threw up. I searched for all the candles I could, but then didn't have any way to light them! My mom was gagging on the smell too.

LOL. I have never tried to actually make my own pickles before. I do not know where to start either. I have some cucumbers also that my mom just gave me. I cut some up and put them in my pickle jar that I had already in the refrigerator.

Did you get pickled, too....my dearest cucumber? LOL! My goodness, you are a busy little beaver....and yes, I love pickles. (I guess that's the Swede in me!)
While you are at it, dearest lady, I love "Bread 'n Butter"....and "mustard" pickles, so can I put in my order, please? It's been years since I have gotten up the energy that you have....I have become a Food Saver/Freezer person, so that's why I loved your Cole Slaw Recipe! Thank you so kindly! Canning requires a full day's work...and I am just NOT home enough! Heck, my house is so dirty my furniture is going to move out! LOL! You have a sparkling weekend..dear soul..and Cheers!

Hi friend,
I have, of course!. I do all kinds of stuff like that and then I have to give away some because I overdo it.
My liast concoction was a sort of onion and tart apple chtney. It was delicious!
What are you going to do with 24 jars of pickles for your own little self? You could start a comercial venture
Hug
