Hey, My dog is getting out of control with barking. Everytime someone walks passed the house she starts barking like crazy! Even now at night times she is barking at practically nothing except the noises being made. She has another dog so she doesn't seem to be lonely. Does anyone have any tips or pointers that maybe able to help me out with this. Its been going on for a bit now. Thanks everyone for there help in advance

How old is she? Have you ever considered educating her and just teach her not to bark at everything?

She is about 1.5 - 2 years (we found her on the street in a gutter trying to keep out of the rain - so not 100% sure her true age). We have tried to tell her to stop but she continues to do it.

If you don't want to train her or something like that, than why don't you try spraying her with a bit of water everytime she barkes at something she shouldn't bark at? I also read some time ago that shaking a can with some coins in it, helps to teach a dog not to bark/chase Cars and Motorcycles, maybe this technic would be useful to you, too? Just check the Internet, I'm sure you will find other useful tips! Good Luck!

I love dogs and I would have done the same thing that you did. Great rescue! I have had dogs in the past and have had different problems arise with them. I watch the Dog Whisper on TV and we have learned some tricks. I will try to tell you that might work. Take your finger and push gentle on the side of their neck and make a sound like pssss. This is suspose to get the dogs attention away from what they are barking at,and this will teach the dog when you do this they will learn that it is something that they are not suspose to do. I hope you can solve your problem with barking.

I think your dog is quite nervous. He is actually scared of many things. Maybe you can help her ease the tension out by calming or assuring it, introduce her to the people at your house. In that way she can be nice to them. I hope this helps. My dog also has barking problems, she is a lab. But she barks only because she is always jealous of our other dog whenever I go to give it food.

I have a pomeranian that barks a lot and it drives me nuts, I will tell you that. I have tried eerything to get her to stop barking, and not sure what to do. I say hey, and bad dog, and it doesn't really work, and spraying her with water does no good, as she doesn't mind the water. Now my bichone, when she barks, all I hvve to do is pick up the spray bottle, and she stops just like that. She hates water and I don't even have to spray her. Believe me tough, i have sprayed her a few times but she will try to run from me so she doesn't get sprayed. I think I will get her trained from barkiing easier than the pom. They both bark when someone comss to the door and that dries me nuts too. I haven't figured out yet how to keep them from barking when someone com es to the door. I will just keep watching The Dog Whisperer, and get ideas. Have a good day, and happy mylotting.

Some dog breeds bark more than others. I've a mixed Shih-Tzu Terrier, and he barks like mad, too at strangers and at neighbour's guests. However, he will not bark if he knows that person. So my guess is, your dog is not used to her surroundings as the environment might be new to him. What about the other dog that you have? Is it the same breed? Does it bark loudly too? Some kind of training could be done. I'm no expert in training, but you could get a professional to help. Ask a veterinarian the causes of excessive barking, read up books on dogs. These are some of the things that you might want to consider to alleviate your stress. I hope i've helped a bit here :)

IF only barking is the problem then be patient, these are the usual symptoms a dog shows to get hi/her out of the home compound and show the dog's actual strength to you.Always use the same command to stop her from barking like ''stop barking'' and if the dog doesn't respond then again give the command a little louder going near to the dog.Give the dog a treat on responding to you, thus when you give your dog a treat it would think respond in to your commands would make him/her get a delicious treat.Always be patient while teaching dogs new things.
