Yesterday I had a great live discussion with a group of people about who is more romantic - men or women. Then the issue of the TV came up and a lot of people felt that the TV was destroying not only the romance between couples, but that it was damaging the whole culture of the family and that this could hurt the romantic feelings of the next generation. What do you think?

I think It can. Not only TV but also magazines and the internet. Men and Women will see the perfect boyfriend, husband, wife, etc and also it seems that on tv that is all they portray is perfection. Many women I know these days always are looking for the "perfect someone" or something similar to someone who will live up to this perfect image they see on TV. It is really hurting them because they will never find someone like that and nobody will be able to be romantic with them because they will already have an expectation for romance. I really think that many generations are not gonna be as romantic as previous generations because of tv.

Your last point about future generations losing their sense of romance was one of the major points to come out of the discussion yesterday. It was felt that the whole basis of family communication was disappearing and that future generations will not even know how to talk to each other.
The fantasy issue disturbs me as well, but maybe we can deal with this, as fancying good-looking people has always been part of our culture, or am I wrong?
