Are men more romantic than women?

I had a great live discussion yesterday about this topic. When I asked the men what they thought, the first answer generally given was "No!". Then one man would say it varies, before the next would say that men are more romantic, but hide it, until eventually the opinion in the room began to swing towards the view that men may be more romantic than women. For example all people conceded that men produce most of the romantic songs and poems.
When it came to the night out at the restaurant with the wife or girlfriend - no man would dare blow out the candle lit by the waitress and say: "sorry I am not romantic!" Another view was that women cannot get enough of romance, so they would have to be infinitely romantic, but was this a cliche, with true romance being confused by watching fantasy TV soap-operas. What do you think?

Hello umart13! Firstly, in my opinion, everybody has romantic sites. Men and woman, kids and adult, the difference is how they distribute their romanticness to other people. May be for some people, I'm not that romantic. I can not write romantic songs or make a love poem, but I can touch my husband with love, I can make a good dinner for him,,,I distribute my love by other way, for him, I'm the most romantic wives in the world. Lastly, for me everybody is romantic,,,and you must have a pure heart to see and feel it :D Have a good day!

Hi dik_an, what a wonderful answer! Our discussion yesterday went in all different directions and many of the discussions on romance led back to childhood experiences and the circumstances in which people grew up. Some people said pretty much what you said about everybody being romantic. However, it was obvious that many people were bottling up these romantic feelings in their lives and I asked myself if this was killing romance, not only for this generation, but for the next one as well... Have a great weekend :-)

Hi dreamangel, that is a pity, but it was apparent from the discussions I had this week that they do definitely exist. It was also noticeable that some men were more romantic than others and that it may have been related to which culture or country they grew up in. Have a good weekend. Umart
