I drive shoeless. I got my driving license about 10 years ago and I have at least 10 years experience in driving. But somehow till now I still not brave enough to drive with wearing my shoes. I feel uncomfortable and unable to drive smooth if I wear my shoes while driving. It just make me crazy driving with wearing my shoes.
With barefoot, I am driving my car as easy as ABC, LOL
So how about you? Do you take your shoes off while driving? Share here, thanks.

I can drive with or without! When I newly got my license, I used to be afraid too, like lack of confidence in my own shoes! I used to remove it, later I learnt to drive with shoes and ya, guess I prefer with than the without!

vingyan06, when I first got my driving license, I drove shoeless too. However, there is one incident that make me now drive with my shoes. I slipped the accelerator, and nearly bang my car to the drain, which later realised that a good pair of shoes is very important in driving. I now got a pair of "special" shoe in my car for driving only. :)

cwong, what a scary experience. I think I need to follow what you do, find a proper shoes at place in the car. No matter what shoes I am wearing, then just change it to that shoes while driving.

We are totally the opposite, I cant stand driving without my shoes. I however never wear anything other then sneakers really and basically feel naked without them. LOL! I have a friend that does everything possible without shoes including driving.
I dont think I would wear flip flops or sandals while driving thou as I would be afraid of them getting caught on the pedals.

My father is driving in barefoot too. So when I started to drive, I also follow this habit.
After that suddenly there's rules from government saying that have to wear shoes for driving. Then I started to learn to drive with shoes. Now I can drive with shoes.
Starting, I just can drive with certain shoes only. But starting last 2 weeks, I have learnt to drive with any shoes I have. So far so good.
I'm totally agree with you, it's more comfort to drive barefoot. To drive in shoes, need some time to used to it.

I've been driving since after HS. I never get comfortable driving without anything on. I'm more comfortable with almost anything flat. I like slippers most. I can drive in heels too, as long as it's wedge, it's kind of hard if I drive with pointed heels, you know.. Lol

No, I drive with my shoes on or even on high heels. I felt the other way around, very uncomfortable when driving on bare foot.

It depends on what type of shoes i have on, but most of the time i drive with no shoes on as i am afraid that when I'm going for the break pedal they are going to get caught under neath the pedal . When i am wearing flip flops or shoes that come off easily then the shoes always come off for sure, But when I'm wearing sneakers i don't usually take my shoes off at all since i can drive with those on and not worry that they might slip off or something. I also feel more comfortable when i drive with no shoes on.

I usually drive with my shoes on unless I am wearing flip flops or dress shoes. I just take off the right foot shoe and drive because it is too uncomfortable with a flip flop or dress shoes.

Oh, you take off your shoes too? Only right shoes? Then you are driving an auto car instead of manual .

I'm ok with both shoe on and barefoot. Depends on what shoe I'm wearing that day. If it is flat sole shoe then I will drive with shoe on, if wearing heel then will probably take it off for safety purpose. Most of the time I'll still prefer to barefoot, more comfortable and sensitive to the pedals.
I got a friend who drive with platform sandal. I'm just so worried of her on controling the pedals. May be due to her height, she said it is more comfortable to drive by wearing platform on. On the other hand, there were many accident happen due to ladies wearing platform or heel shoe to drive, whereby on emergency brake, they are not flexible and fast enough for that.

When I was learning how to drive my mother insisted I wear tennis shoes or some other solid shoe, not just flip flops. So driving barefoot? Absolutely not. I think I did it once when I had to move the car to the street, and I did not like it at all. (I don't worry about flip flops any more, however.) I've never heard of someone having to drive barefoot before. I suppose there's nothing wrong with it, it's all a matter of what you're used to. But it doesn't seem very practical for all the time, unless you live somewhere where it is always warm, and have a job that doesn't require certain footwear. I can't imagine untying and retying boots or sneakers 10 times a day on a Saturday shopping day.

In my country it is hot here everyday, no winter at all. So I hardly wear boots and sneakers while going out. I like to wear sandals and flip flops. Thanks for sharing here,

I'm comfortable with BOTH.. but prefer not wearing it if I'm on.. a loose (slipper like)...
It's just about how you practice..
I tried both during my learning periods..
May be thats the reason why i'm almost comfortable with both
My be you started learning driving with your shoes off...
My trainer always told me to use shoes on while driving.. So I was forced to learn both!

I usually drive with my shoes on. In the summer if im wearing flip flops or sandals i take them off but otherwise they stay on. My driving instructor (drivers ed is mandatory here) said that it was safer to wear footwear incase of an accident that you had to quickly evacuate the car - broken glass/twisted metal could injure your feet. Plus in the winter time your feet could freeze pretty fast and its winter alot here.

It is so dangerous driving with bare feet. Shoes matter a lot for safe driving. Flip flops are not allowed, to my knowledge. And too heavy and rigid shoes might be invenient. Maybe a pair of leisure shoes will be best. For new drivers, better not to change too often the shoes. Safety is most important.

I am just the complete opposite. I just can't drive properly without my shoes on. I have no proper feel of the pedals and hence, not quite sure how to judge my strength on the accelerator and brake pedals. Nearly had a couple of accidents when I tried to reverse my car without wearing my shoes. Many of my lady friends have the same issue. They cannot drive wearing their shoes. It's quite amusing everytime they get into their car and I used to tease them. There they are, wearing nice elegant evening gowns and high heels but the moment, they got into their car, out come their high heels and driving bare footed...haha..Sorry. I just find that amusing...
