After responding in a thread about women choosing to wear bras or not...i was inspired to get others peoples opinions on another social aesthetic matter.
In todays society (at least in the US) it is the social norm for women to shave their armpits. How do you feel about about women who choose to go the au naturale route and not shave? Personally i am very put off by this. Maybe i have just been so brainwashed by society that i find it kinda gross. What are your thoughts? i would love to hear from both men and women on this matter!
oh, and i will be the first to admit, there are times when i got for a few days with out hitting the razor....but no way in heaven or hell would i go out in public in a tank top to wave my underarm hair around for all to see....the thought of it just makes my skin crawl....*shudder*

I do shave my armpit whenever I feel the need to. If I'm going to wear a top that would reveal it then, I have to shave it not because I feel the embarrassment but because I'm more comfortable. :D
P.S This comes to my thought earlier, since it's related to shaving, how about private* hairs? (I don't really want to make a discussion to this since it's awkward for me ha-ha)

I entertained the idea of starting a thread discussing that.....but as i am new to mylot, i decided against it. I didn't know how a topic about how you groom your "bikini area" would go over. *lol*

I only shave if I wear something that may reveal my underarm. So in winter, I don't shave generally. But in summer, especially at sea-side, I think this is a must. It is a boring job to shave all the time but otherwise, it looks disgusting, in my opinion.

Yes, it is quite boring and tedious isn't it?
And have you ever nicked your armpit while shaving there? OUCH....at least on your leg it just looks bad, but in your armpit it stings for a very long time as there is constant contact with clothing or other skin.

Hehe! I think it is better to shave, not only foe aesthetic reason but also for personal hygiene.
It is more hygienic if someone is always shaved.
Happy MyLotting!

As long as a person bathes and cleans themselves regularly, i don't really see this causing any health problems or anything, but i would imagine it would be a cause to use deodorant more often!

I do shave my armpit during shower. I feel clean whenever I shave. I think that it is just right for a woman to have a clean armpit. I do not think that society has something to do with it. Or maybe I guess there is. It is just a woman's thing, a woman's way to take care of her body.

I definitely shave! Body hair, to me, is masculine. Of course, women have it also but much less. We don't have beards or chest hair, for example. So it seems like the attractive thing for a women to do to remove underarm hair, as it is probably the most noticeable of all our body hair.

I think it is up to the individual whether or not they want to shave their body. I do think if you chose to shave no hair at all it can get rough in the summer. I trim my facial more in the summer and if I was female I would shave some of my body hair more in the summer months.

I never used to shave before one year. Then, I thought that there is no need to shave it because I never used sleevless tops or any dress that doesn't have sleeves. Now a days, I am using sleevless dress and I feel it is disgusting to keep hair in under arms. Now, I shave it using a razor atleast once in three days. I feel that place is very clean and now I enjoy keeping there shaved.

I do respect those women who do not shave, maybe they're very comfortable with it and maybe they already used of having hairs in their armpits. But for me, awww, I felt uncomformtable having hairs in my armpit, I felt itchy and at times it makes my skin crawl too... =) I also dont have the guts to go out, wearing sleeveless, and people will see it, and make fun of me... that's why I regulary check for growing hairs and immediately take it off...

Did you know that dirt sticks to skin hair easily? My boyfriend is cambodian/thai/french mix and he despise the french part of that. Well, he doesn't despise it because it's french. He despise it because of the hairiness. That man hates his chest and back hair. It bothers him to no end! Lately, we've been doing that spraying hair removal thing - and he thinks that his complexion is fairer when he's hairless. And I have to agree with him!
Anyways, we're now saving money for laser hair removal in the future. *shrugs*
I shave my underarms - I've seen women who don't. Didn't really bother me any. It's a choice - some women don't, some women do. *shrugs*

I think one should shave is it's really kinda' "bushy", you know what I mean. It's okay for those who have less hair, but for me it's not acceptable if it's too much! Well, we all are moving towards the world of IT and Technology, I hope all ladies out there will/must take care of themselves!

I do not shave my armpit hairs always, but yep i do definately, whenever i wear something that reveals my armpit hairs. Else if we do bath properly, and keep ourselves clean, i don't feel its anyways unhygenic or necessary to clean it...
Actually i do feel lazy to do it, when ever not necessary....

I so agree. I just find it off if like for example you're in a bikini and you didn't even took the time to shave your armpits' hair, I don't know, there's just something off and unladylike about it.

As a husband, I dont like my wife not shaving her armpits.
She does not like it either. But generally we don't have women who wear sleeve less tops and have hair under the arms.
It looks ugly and besides with hair you get lot of other issues like smell.
Many guys shave their armpits regularly to get rid of the bacteria causing body odour.
I think women should shave their armpits because it looks sexy as well.
Of course its subjective, just as some women like guys with hairy chest and some with moustaches.

Hi! For me personally it is to shave. I also teach my daughters to shave. It makes me feel unclean when i don't shave. And i certainly would not go out in public showing unshaved underarms. I have to agree it does make my skin crawl also. I think women should shave their underarms, but that is my personal opinion. I am sure there are some who would disagree. I know some women don't shave because of religious reasons.
