Does your dog chew on things it's not supposed to? Like shoes, or furniture?

Chewing is the sign of lack of attention or something else. Obviously, the owners are not giving the attention. If you understand the dog's mentality and psychological practices and see where their mind is focusing. Chewing is the way to express that they are upset, anxious or taking it out on their owners. I gave my dogs attentions as much as I can, they rarely chew anything else but their own dog toys. I am happy with it. I take them to tag along with me for fun, walk around the block, walk at a park - they get aroused, excited and thrilled. That makes themselves feeling good. Giving them some treats every time they finish their poops. That helps dog's focus better. I have seen dogs chewing everything else in others house, I gave them advices and the dogs chewed less and less. Give it a time to shift the dog's focus to positive side.

That sounds good, maybe i'll try giving him more attention, well with me not having a job right now, that may be enough. just having me around the house more often.

sounds like that corgi is taking out on you and your wife. he knows which valuable things to you both, he chews the expensive ones. he studies you both so well and knows how to upset you both. it is possible that there is jealousy. he may wants some attention from your wife or you, either way. or jealousy of either you because you both give each other more attention than your corgi gets.

That's cool - was he adopted? If so, something must happened. Probably anxiety of separation that I can suspect that. You both may need to "assure" that everything will treat your dog wonderful. He needs to see that and surely figure out by within probably 3-4 months.

i dont know. he's calmed down some and hasnt been chewing as much lately. every time we used to find something chewed up he would immediatly run under the bed and not come out for any reason. but hopefully we've gotten him cured from that for now. We have only had him for about 6 months

Dogs r like kids, if u let them get away with things when they r young, they think they can do it forever. Kids soother, blanky etc., dogs -furniture, clothes. u get the idea. When a puppy is teething the gums r sore, just like young children. They grab things to chew on so the skin breaks to allow teeth to grow. When they pick up the wrong thing to chew on replace it with something that they can chew on. Sometimes this can be a long drawn out process untill they understand they must chew on the things that u want them to chew on, ie. tree branch, chew toys or a piece of leather wrapped around foam, tree branch or something acceptable.. Remember always luv/ care your dog/ pet, they will always luv u..

Mine did when both of them was a puppies. Both chew on shoes, rug and also the wall. When I see that they are doing something naughty, I would tell them no. It took about 1 week to train them and a lot of chew toys.

Yeah mine does, she chews the rug and the sofa's. She licks them mostly now, but they are still all torn lol. We tried a few times to put nasty tasting things on things she took and chewed, like childrens toys but she just seemed to like the taste and it had no effect!
