First, who really don t afraid to fly, seems that more and more people start to afraid to flying.
My first flying was 2,5 hours, to France...and the longest was 6,5 hours to Emirates.
For ma was same, so...i was afraid first time, but after, because i fly so many times, is perfect normal, i am not afraid, because i know that accident are everywhere, everytime, even we walk on the street, a car can make a stupid accident...so for me is same; car, fly, train, or even i walk..

It was very boring. but like i said they played a few movies for us. I was a little scared since i was only like 11 and it was the first time on a plane for me. But also it was several years before 9/11 ever happened.

I've always been afraid of flying 'cause I'm not in control like my remote controlled airplane. I'm in my late 30s and am about to take my first flight across the United States, from New England to Texas. I believe there will be two layovers and will take a total time of 10 hours. I'm still scared, but I have to be reunited with my daughters, who, by the way, the oldes is now making me a grandfather, I'll get to meet my first grandson moments after his birth, awesome.

My longest flights were those I took from London to Singapore, and from Singapore to LA and San Francisco. Those were many years ago, and if I recall, they were like 16 or 17 hours with a stopover somewhere. I really dread those long flights, but I can't help it if I want to go to Europe or US/Canada. In the last 10 years, I've resorted to shorter flights, only to as far as Australia or New Zealand, and no more than 10 hours by air.

I think that's a good thing to do as it is not about the flight time and how long will it take but the boring time you have to spend waiting in the airport. Some flights requires that you be there 1 or 2 hours before the flight!!! In some airports the distance you walk is really long and you might take up to 20 min which explains the time but in very small to tiny airports WHY are we asked to be there early? I mean we can put our bags there and then enjoy the time instead of waisting it on WAITING :D LOL

My longest flight was for around 12-14 hours, I think. It was Sydney Australia, to Los Angeles USA. It was the longest and first leg of a round the world ticket that I used over a six month period. The next legs of the trip were New York to Paris, Paris to London, then London back to Paris, Paris to Beijing China, then Beijing to Gaungzhou China, Hong Kong to Cairns Australia, then Cairns back home to Brisbane!
I never flew until I was in my twenties as my parents do not like flying and have not flown anywhere. I have flown loads since then and continue to do so every year as we live interstate from where our families live! I love travelling by air and my kids do too. It is so much fun and exciting to land in new destinations!!!

I've been flying all my life but the longest flight I think was around 6 hours. But on my way to Africa, I had a domestic flight of an hour and a half and then soon after an international flight of 5 and a half hours and then a change over and then another flight of 5 and a half hours. I'm not sure if it can be considered ONE flight....because I had to change planes and not much waiting at the airports...but I think that's the hardest part for me....especially when travelling with a baby. I'd rather sit for hours in the same flight.
I'm not really scared to fly for pretty much the same reasons as yours.

I have no problem with long flights at all. The longest flight I've ever taken was an 8 hour flight from Toronto Ontario Canada to Copenhagen Denmark. It was an 8 hour flight, and we stopped in Iceland for a few hours, and flew home a few weeks later. I've flown to Arizona a number of times, but those flights were never that long.

The longest 1 flight that I took was 14 hours. That does not include the first 2 flights before that one. I was going to Taiwan. I left Nashville and went to another state then another and then to Canada before getting on the one that was 14 hours. It was always long to get there when I went. I would have at least 2 flights before the last one across the ocean.

you are so right, accidents can happen just by standing on the street. My longest fright was in 1984, 10 hours from Ohio to Hawaii, We only changed planes in Chicago. From there was straight flight, I was terrified. We had a rough landing after we boarded and headed to one of the other islands, but all in all it was a good flight, they seem to keep you busy with food and movies, it was my one and only and with the way things are now a days I will not do it again. I know they say flying is safer than driving, and i know that pilot sit it down so perfect in the Hudson Bay, but not all turn out that good. I just feel I have more of a chance of surviving if I'm on the ground than to have to fall there first. But when it is our time to go don't think it matter where you are.

My longest flight was only a few hours. The reason that people are more afraid to fly, even if there are more accidents that happen other places is quite simple. If your car has an engine failure or gets into an accident, when you open the door, it isn't 20,000 feet to the ground.

Hi icesmile
The longest flight I ever took was to Italy, the flight took me about 7 hours and the airport waiting time was 8 hours or more :P LOL and the shortest was 1/2 an hour
I think it does not matter how long the flight is if you are in a bad situation/seat or flying with a horrible flying airlines - Sometimes you have one disturbing moment which disturbs the whole flight. I had ppl talking, singing, kick the seat behind me LOL but the worse I faced was a group of some family who had a stereo with them and had it played the whole trip time!!!! disturbing everyone :D LOL
But guess things always happen and you never know.
From my experience, it is not such a good idea to eat (especially fast food) before your flight Or drink a lot of liquids :D could case you a hard time
Thx for sharing

The longest flight that I took was from Kuala Lumpur to Cape Town without any transit stop. It took slightly more than 11 hours flight. I'm scared of accidents because accidents can happen anywhere and anytime. So just have to leave the entire journey into God's hands. What I don't like on long distance flight is the tiredness after sitting for so many hours. Yes, at times I stand up and do a bit of stretching but how many times can I do that. Moreover I have problem in sleeping while on board and I have to take sleeping pills everytime when I'm on long distance flights......haiz!!!

I haven't travelled much, except to and fro Bangalore (India) to Kuwait. So that being the only route, it is my longest as well as shortest. No, I don't think I would be afraid. If something has to happen, it can happen right where I am sitting. I happen to trust in my Lord Jesus Christ. And that does give me a lot of courage. Try it.

i dont tihnk flights are scary at all. you are safer flying than driving in your car. its just very big news when a single incident happens.
my longest flight that i can remember was 6-7(?) hours. flying to hawaii. it was a long flight with no meal and had no headphones for the movie.
i just hate flying now because they overcharge u for snacks. they even charge you for movie headphones. some companies are not considering charging to use the bathroom on shorter flights.
it is not the fear of flying that makes me hate long flights, it is the poor service.

The longest flight I ever took was from Vancouver to Hong Kong by Air Canada. That took 14 hours. It was very nice and comfortable flight. The service was perfect. But, too long for me, very tiring. I am that type of person who cannot sleep on the plane, so that makes long flights very exhausting. Another flight I took which also took 14 hours was from Copenhagen to Bangkok by Thai Airways.

We took a flight to Atlanta,GA then went from there and went 12 hours over to London, it was only 9 hours back,or maybe the other way aroud. Anyways, That was my first flying trip then two years later 9/11 happened and a few years later I travel with my mom and so i can't fly cause we dont see the benefit of it since we'd have to rent a car when he get to where we r going. If we stayed in the US. She's actually afraid of flying. so I don't think we would ever do it.
