A long time ago, the only entertainment you got is telling stories to each other over fire. Now, we get all sorts of entertainment like computer games, movies, clubbing, facebooking, etc. There are so many others and not all are negative. My point is, I see a lot of my friends spend their time on these things and find that if I calculate the number of hours they spent on i... it just boggles my mind. I admit that I myself is stuck with a few of this 'vices', we just can't escape it especially if you decide to try it once. Anyway, it seems that most people nowadays spent too much time (of their life) on this 'escapism' route. Shouldn't it be more meaningful? To me, a meaningful life is to understand what I can about everything in nature (physics, space, biology) and find connections to the religion, more like looking for proof. I'm not sure. The question is do you know how to 'live' a meaningful life?

people always tend to escape from the real life. but the forms taken by people nowadays are different from the past. nowadays, people can have more choices because of the technological creatures. but anyway they all have one thing in common: dissatified with the real life, so they try to escape it. unfortunately, however, they rarely really succeed. for others, when they have any dissatification with the current condition, they will not escape, on the contrary, they confront the disappointment and conquerred it, and they proved themselves to be brave. the real difference between them is the attitude they have taken. so, for the escapism, i think the best cure has been realism. with confidence and brave, back to the reality and that depends mostly on your attitude toward reality.

before you can have a meaningful life, you must first be at peace with yourself. meaning you should be satisfied with what you have, what you are, and what you are doing. Once you have that inner peace, you will slowly understand your purpose in life.

Most of the time, we are never satisfied with anything. That's why we progress. If we are content then we stagnate. Of course there are other ways to progress but I think our dissatisfaction with what we have is the main cause for progress. I wish I could have inner peace as you said but I also would like to be more than I am.
