From my experience typing in all caps come across that you are either upset or are yelling.

One of the ethics of sending emails is not to use capital letters. The reasons are as follows, which some MyLot members have already highlighted to you: 1. it's rude 2. it gives the wrong impression that you're angry 3. IT MAKES READING FAR MORE DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY IF YOU WRITE A LONG SENTENCE OR PARAGRAPH. NOTICE THIS? :) If you're really angry, then use capital letters with exclamation mark. But why get angry in an email? See that person face-to-face and tell him/her off :)

Oh, i'd like to add.... the tips on not using capital letters apply to using chat applications, too (Yahoo, MSN, AOL, MIRC, ICQ, Trillian, whatever) ..miss that.

What does using capital letters mean on the internet? It can mean many things. Normally if your on a chat client or a messenger, such as aim. Capital letters means the person is stupid and forgot about caps lock or they are angry and shouting. If you reading an article on the internet it is most likely to be something very important. It could also be a warning, if it is a video game it will say something like "DO NOT CHEAT". I hope I helped.

It depends upon the mood.. sometimes it's just to HIGH LIGHTING the discussion. or sometimes in angry like LISTEN TO ME.. or sometimes to repeat the sentence with impact.

It depends on what the content is and the context it is said in. For example:- If you were to say - "This is a STUPID discussion." They would be highlighting it. But if they were to say - "THIS IS A STUPID DISCUSSION..." Then they'd probably be angry or shouting. (I don't think this is a stupid discussion by the way). :P Though some people just USE CAPS TO BE KIND OF ANNOYING. Haha.

It generally means you don't have good manners. Whatever your are typing it is better you always use small letters or sentence case.

I think it really depends on the context and how they are saying. If they use capital letters on one or two words they are probably trying to emphasize those certain words. When it comes to the whole sentence they are probably just trying to yell or they have absolutely have no clue how to venture the keyboard and find that caps lock.

It depends on what is being said. If it is just casual conversation, its probably shouting. Actually, typically its shouting. Most highlighting is done using boldface. I usually don't use caps lock to emphasize a point.
