This week the House Energy and Commerce Committee is finalizing health reform legislation that can improve children's health in America. Ask the House Energy and Commerce Committee to support amendments that improve and strengthen the portions of the bill relating to children. Helpful amendments could be considered as early as TODAY, so please call Members on the Committee.
Ask them to:
Support Rep. Diana DeGette's amendment that would make sure we do no harm in health care reform. CHIP shouldn't expire unless it is proven that new programs can do better.
Support Rep. Bobby Rush's amendments to simplify the enrollment process, ensure comprehensive benefits and protect all low-income children.
Support other child-friendly amendments that may be offered that would ensure health coverage to youth leaving juvenile justice programs and outreach efforts to homeless youth.
Oppose any amendments that undercut coverage for children or reduce subsidies for low-income families.
Call these U.S. Representatives Tuesday and Wednesday to help kids get the coverage they need:
Rep. Mike Ross (D-AR)
Rep. John Barrow (D-GA)
Rep. Baron Hill (D-IN)
Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI)
Rep. Zack Space (D-OH)
Rep. Bart Gordon (D-TN)
Rep. Gene Green (D-TX)
Rep. Charles Gonzales (D-TX)
Rep. Jim Matheson (D-UT)
You may reach members of Congress toll-free by calling the Capitol Hill switchboard at 1-866-277-7617 and asking for a specific U.S. Representative's office.
Thank you for making children a national political priority!
