how do you share your internet at home?

If I'm here in the Philippines, I live with my parents with my sister. Though we have separate room in the house, we do share our internet from one ISP (internet service provider). I'm pretty sure that most of us here knows what wireless networking means.
So in our house, we share our connection through a wireless router that is connected with our cable modem. How about you (who shares internet in the household), how do you share your internet at home? Does anyone here still uses wired network connectivity at home?

Not only do we share the internet, we only have one computer, so we have to share the computer!
Its just me and my husband. I'm usually on MUCH more than he is. But it drives me crazy when he spends more time on the computer doing things that are not on the internet, and I just want to get online!

haha, what is he doing then? is he playing PC games? Well anyway, I think it's time for you to buy your own laptop or netbook. Good luck and enjoy it in here!

Lately he's been trying to get HUNDREDS of digial home movies burned to disc. Takes FOREVER. And he fancies himself to be a screenwriter so he'll sometimes spend a lot of time on there writing.
Sadly, a second computer or laptop isn't in our budget at the moment.

Before we have a cable modem, now we have the wireless router. My son asked us to purchase the wireless router and its better coz can log on the net easily using my laptop even if my sons are using the other pc. My 2 sons are mostly using the desktops and I use the laptop and we share one ISP.

After reading all these responses, i feel myself lucky. As i use internet on my mobile so obviously i dont have to share it with anyone. I cant stick to computer whole day so its a best option for me. Wherever i go, i always remain active on internet. And if i need to use net on my computer then i just connect my cellphone with pc and use on it. So me and my bro share a pc but not internet. Happy mylotting!

yeah that is the most practical thing to do right now. Internet sharing is very much possible with the introduction of Wireless routing and each member of the household can access the net anywhere in the house. I think this technology has made access to the net very easy and manageable since you do not have to subscribe to an ISP for each user.

Here at home we got
Me, my wife, 4 kids. Sometimes more people (BF/GF) of kids are here.
So a lot of traffic
We got a wireless netowrk.
I am a tech consultant so its not just a normal network.
It is connected to a cable modem and a VDSL.
Cable modem is for all, VDSL basically is for me to work and the fallback connection.
We also got wired connection. I tell them to use that if they share big files (like pulling a movie from the server)

At home sweet home, like you, we use wireless router to share the internet as well.
But I also have my own wireless internet broadband that I use for myself, which only needs my USB modem to be plugged in to the laptop every time I need to use it. Wherever there is signal from my ISP (3G), I will be able to surf the net.
So this mobile internet is something I can take with me wherever I want as long as the signal is there.
But in a way, I still prefer my internet at home :)

Oh I also have that USB modem from one of the providers here in the Philippines. But it really sucks, I hate their service. I usually get disconnected when I use it, if i'm not connected though, it will really take time for me to get online.
I agree with you, i'd still prefer my connection at home as it's more reliable than those free wifi zone and USB modems.

I see!
For me I HAD to use it, as a student I go here and there and needs a mobile connection... haha.
But yeah it still isn't as good as the one at home.
Besides, wireless broadband like that actually shares IP addresses with those who use the service within the same area. Makes life tough for 'one IP address, one account' rule that we usually go by in online money earning sites, lol..

We use a wireless router, but we have one computer plugged directly into the router. Wireless is great to easily set up a network without running wires. But if you can, wired is the faster/safer/more reliable option. I still plan on eventually getting a home and having it wired for networking and anything else I want to run in the future, because it is so much more reliable. But if you just need to get some laptops or other PCs across the house online, wireless is great.

Wireless N is much reliable than Wireless G/B. So you wouldn't have to have your home provisioned for wired networking as you can have that technology. :D

I don't share our internet connection for now. But as soon as I get to raise a fund for a wireless router, my will surely be able to browse the net through her laptop.

We have one computer so we share it. It works out pretty well as only three people use the computer out of four who live in this house.

My husband and I have two computers and two internet connections. We both use a wireless connection and they are not very good. Sometimes the connection is extremely slow and sometimes we can't get online at all. We live in the countryside and that is one of the reasons why the connection isn't that great. We get annoyed sometimes when it isn't working, but I am happy that we have two computers and two internet connections, because in the old days when we had to share one computer we often argued about it

my daughter and i share the computer as well as the internet. and now, my grandaughter has started using it, too, for researches. my granddaughter uses the computer between 4pm-6pm; my daughter between 6pm-8pm and i use it from 9pm onwards. if my granddaughter cannot finish on time, she uses time of her mom. i give in too when my granddaughter needs the computer. but saturdays and sundays it is mine.
