Do you think that computers can replace teachers in the classroom?
The use of computers in the classroom is indeed helpful for the present and next generation. But I strongly believe that we still need teachers to guide our children. There are things that a teacher can do that a computer cannot. A teacher can help students in terms of decision making, determining right from wrong and as well as with technical objects like computers/machinery. Yes, many of today's generation are now studying from home with the use of computer, but is there any interpersonal communication involved? Computers are there to help us speed up our work, give us information that we need--from our world's history to new inventions, and save important documents. But does a computer have the ability to connect with us like humans do?

computers are useful tools with a childs' learning process, but i don't think they should replace teachers.. teachers don't only guide the children in learning, but they also help the student in building character. and i don't think a computer alone can inspire and touch a student the way my favorite teacher had.

I do not think that computers could replace teachers, for some of the following reasons separated into subject areas.
Maths - If you do something wrong then you need it explaining how you went wrong, not just how to do it right. A computer would just say "this is the method".
English - You need to be inspired, a computer has no personal experiences, so a computer would not be able to inspire students to write stories and poems.
History - While a computer could replace teachers in terms of knowing the facts, they could not replace in the interaction - the role playing of wars etc.

Computers as they are now - no. I think that children still need the guidance of an adult not a machine. I think that so often machines like computers and tvs are left as babysitters these days and its not really supervising the child or caring for the child its thereto provide a distraction.

This is kind of a difficult question. This idea has popped into my head before. You see, technology is becoming greater and greater. One day, we might be able to develop artifical intelligence. So, we could make kind of robot teacher. Or small machines that could teach students from home. Do I think children will benefit? Not as much, but I believe schools and parents will do it because it will be cheaper and easier than a regular teacher.

Yes, I definitely agree with you. Computers can do everything. It can provide various number of information which the human brain cannot. But with all of these characteristics of computers, still we, humans are important enough in molding the next generation to have a proper attitudes and decorum. It is in this aspects that computers cannot match with humans.

For a computer is a tool. It facilitates the user to generate fast information. But a computer could not replace the the teacher. A teacher mainly is to teach the student and disciplined. A teacher is someone who can support the student in some aspect. Whereas a computer is just a machine that has no emotion. And thus it has a lesser capability than that of a teacher.

i don't think computers will ever replace our teachers in the classroom, they will remain a tool in the classroom. besides, computers have less life span compared to computers.

you're right in all the things you pointed out. not to mention that only a human can instill discipline in a classroom. also, humans (teachers in this case) has the final say on what lesson on the web he or she deems is suitable to his or her students. teachers' work may be lessened which is very, very good. i had once been a teacher .

No I don't think so...computers can't replace teachers...there are many things that teachers do which computers can't do....computers can only help students to get the information....teachers and co-students plays a great role in developing the personality of a student....learning things by sitting in front of computer can never be same as learning things in the class...

Dear cmnavarro,
This is indeed a very relevant and interesting topic.
It makes us - parents, teachers, students to ponder and
think about the computers and its function in our society
during this Information Technology Age!
Computers definitely has enchance our lives but it will
never can replace teachers because we do not live "alone"
in this world, everything is interconnected, human relations
play a big role in our society, economy and basically everything!
Your points stated in your discussion clearly explained the importance
of the teachers...tks, and happy myLotting!

no way. a teacher doesnt only teach you but he personally gets to know you throughout the year. He/She understands your weaknesses and strengths. A computer would never be able to do that and a computer would never ever be able to replace a teacher no matter what.

I don't think so because it is important that a teacher will teach the students not a machine a teacher can give his experience and his sympthy to the studentso myadvice is obiviously not.

computers are very smart, they can do anything in few minutes. But they're not people which have emotion. Computers only dispose actions by commands!
Remember, don't make computers control people

I don't thin computers can replace teachers.Computers are just machines that act on our command.A teacher is a person who can find out whether the student has understood the topic well or not.She can also give inspiration to students which will be in his mind and help him to be successful in the long run.Teachers can also correct students id the misbehave but not computers.

Hey,
I think that computers would do pretty well comparing to the teachers at my school. The teachers at my school, can't even teach! All they do is read from the text book. Even I can do that, without paying the expensive fee! Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

No, computers cannot replace teachers, but I do believe that computers can assit teachers during teaching and learning session. Teachers is human, has an instinct, love, and all kind of true feelings, but computers don't have. Even though the technology managed to come up with artificial feelings, still in not the same. Interaction between human and robots or computer is different than interaction between human.

After reading your words, i was tipped by your tone that teachers and computers can be put into a comparison or a parrallel, thereafter coming with the question which is more important so the more important one can take the place of the less? Is it? The popularity of computer application does not leave the teachers behind the times, but only push them much further down the road to efficient teaching. Frequent computer application also does not deny the neccessity of existence of teachers, it just redefines the word'learning', from strong-teacher-reliance to high-self-learning. so to be simple there's no very solid grounding for this VS, and actually teachers in many schools nowadays are quite those populations versed with computers in their teaching, especially in colleges.

No No teachers is never needed for children studies . now a days computer is become efficient than teachers . All the teachers are working for money and not for teaching . They will simply come to school and take rest . Computer is best . Now a days the students become cleverer in his studies due to computer only .

If we have the honest teacher, maybe we don't need a computer...but now, it's very hard to find someone that do their job with full commitment..that why, now we can say that computer is a better more than a teacher..sorry for those teacher outside..:)

I'm a strong advocate of using computers in the teaching and learning process. However, I do not wish to see computers replacing humans as teachers. Computers are machines. They can't feel, they can't think. Therefore, they can't be empathetic or sympathetic to students. They can't show meaningful gestures that help students understand the lessons better. They can't tell jokes in class that make everyone laugh ....well, you get the point :)
To me, computers are supplementary teaching tools. Teachers will always be needed.

yes, that is what i am talking about... computers doesn't have feelings and they can't think. yes, they are invented by humans, they help us in many ways... but we still need to have that connection, a teacher touches our lives in many ways unlike computers. thank you for responding, kev =)
